Why do games sell digital soundtracks when you could just just take the soundfiles in the game folder?
To make more money from normies.
Kaguya is cute.
Most of the time it's to make money from idiots who don't know any better. Sometimes it's because there are extra (unused) songs included, or the album is mixed differently than the game and includes a full arrangement as opposed to a loop.
>game has good music
>that one song you wanted to listen to the most isn't part of the OST
>it's not anywhere on youtube either

Sometimes, the music is encoded in some weird way like how some of minecraft's soundtracks are in a .mus format

How did WoW soundtracks work? Did they actually release the full 7-10hrs of music or just a few random selections? I fucking love listening to the full soundtracks of each expansion but I cannot find a proper download for them anywhere.

In some cases the OST version may have something missing from the game version.

I bought MoP collector's edition and the soundtrack had 15 or 20 orchestrated pieces. No idea how many tracks were actually in the expansion.

At least with vidya there's sound tests. If this happens with anime then you're SOL. It's worse with hentai, and I've heard a few good songs in some but I can't name any that have had OST releases.

>finally find it on youtube
>it has game audio/sound effects in it

Why would you buy digital soundtracks when you can download them for free.
At least when you buy physical you get something tangible for your money. Just buy the CD or vinyl.

Gunslinger Stratos Menu theme.
I will pay 1million euros and become your personal sex slave to the person who finds that track.

why would you download them again when they're in your game folder?
