It's mainly CYOAs and stuff right now, but I think that's telling - people liked the world of it, people liked the idea of this totally different place where everyone was a pastel animal and there was magic and friendship and everything turned out okay in the end. I dunno, this is just a stream of thought, don't take anything here as gospel. But I think that the escapism was part of it. I mean, it really is telling that most of the CYOAs are about being teleported to equestria, or becoming a pony, or pretending to be a pony. And in that respect, I totally understand them. I mean, look at how many people do it with more socially acceptable universes/shows/games/etc.

The first season is actually not bad at all, and the second/third have their moments. I was more trying to touch on what made the fanbase the gigantic social anomaly it was. I think the fact that so many people enjoyed the show when they didn't even expect to was the thing that brought them together.
