I enjoyed the shit out of this game. Strategy and use of terrain/weather effects is relevant all the way to end game instead of being that gimmick that gets used at the start, but becomes irrelevant after the tutorial.
I played it co-op where we played with no guide and just rolled with whatever happened. There were so many "What the fuck did you do?!" conversations had. (We accidentally massacred a town. Then we found out later that the town was filled with evil murderous cultists and felt much better about ourselves.)

I haven't played this game yet, even though I've owned it for over a year now. Every time I sit down to play it, I get overwhelmed by all the massive amounts of skill combos and stuff you can potentially do, but it feels like a game that was designed purely for min/maxers do to the extremely limited amount of skill points you can get. I just wanna play the game without worrying about screwing myself over because I picked one skill over another!

You get two helpers in addition to your two main characters. Use them to get points into crafting, leadership, stealth, etc. While leveling their main skills. That gives you plenty of options for building your characters.
