I'm at thesecond weekand I can't tell whether I'm bad at the game or not. I understand puck passing and I'm quite good at managing both characters, but I tend to struggle at bosses. I play very few RPGs because I'm not a fan of some RPG conventions, but this game gets nothing but high praise so I wanted to play it. I have a few questions:
>Is grinding important in the game? I struggled with the seventh day boss at level 11, I have no idea if that's too low or if levels even matter in the game.
>Is gear important in the game?
>Apart from understanding the gameplay and getting good pins, is there anything else that helps in the long run? I generally feel I could stand to do more damage to bosses.

I got through the game by randomly mashing the d-pad and just dodging around with neku with the default pins. I guess you should learn how to watch both screens at once

when puck passing becomes important I used to use a pin that changes neku's dash, for example the damage dash or the invisibility dashes that just teleport him from place to place.
doing that allows you to focus on the upper screen more if you're close to gaining a team attack or the puck is on your partner since you can use the dash pin to keep neku safe since he's invincible while dashing.
after you're done with the top screen or the dash pin runs out I'll use the other pins 'til they're maxed out and then switch back to the top screen and dashing while waiting for the pin cooldowns to come back

Not really, but it helps to kill a few more enemies than needed to level up/evolve pins faster.

Not really although it's worth checking out any new pins you come across so you can develop your own personal playstyle. If you need support pins/clothing use Pavo Real and Sheep Heavenly branded loot.

Focus on passing the green energy puck to multiply your damage.

Protip, the game doesn't have an internal clock, so if you change your date for one week forward, you'll get the shutdown EXP just fine.
So if you're in need of SPP to evolve some pins, don't be afraid to do it.
Also, get a velocity tackle pin if possible, that shit's dope.

It isnt as important as you may think. You can beat the entire game on hard (or the unlock able post game difficulty Ultimate) without ever playing over level 1. You can literally just git gud and win. all grinding levels does is raise your health, not attack, bravery, or defense. eat food for those skills to raise.
Gear is important. look for the ones that have good unlock able abilities. buy every piece of gear from shops and keep going to shops and raise their affinity towards you to unlock more hidden gear upgrades.
In the long run, keep eating food, get more gear to get better abilities, and never use a mastered pin unless you are facing a boss. keep changing pins to level them up to have things to sell and try new combinations of pins.

It caps at 297, which is after 168h hours of shutdown.
Mingle, on the other hand, can go up to 1000, so don't be afraid to leave your DS/3DS in mingle mode overnight, chances are that by the time you wake up, you'll have found 2~3 Aliens, which translates into a whopping 300 MPP.
Great for leveling pins.

Keep eating food constantly. its more important then leveling up. save scarletite to buy the unrestricted food upgrade in the Shibu-Q Heads Pharmacy or other upgrades rather than character upgrades (minus more pins, that takes priority)

Gaining levels only affects your max HP. Lowering your level below your current cap increases odds of pin drops from enemies. Grinding pins yields better results than straight up levels, but even then you're probably better off coming up with a better set of pins to use, or getting better gear (which IS super important, and getting the money may require some grinding indeed.)

If you're still using the default pins, switch them up, even if they do the same thing. I never realized that they did so little damage, and I actually used a few all the way through.
Been a while since I've played the game, but I do remember that I played most of it at the lowest level just because it mattered so little, and you get much better drops that way. It's more about what pins you use and how strong they are.
As for the dual touchscreens, I honestly just pressed buttons randomly like mad while focusing mainly on the bottom screen.

I did everything there was to do in TWEWY, even got my ESPer rank to Star. so long as neku has at least 1 damaging pin for when it is required for neku to attack someone. Every attack is dodgeable, and so long as an enemy isnt immune to the pins used, its possible, but super hard.

It actually controls better. Only on day two but it's pretty cool so far. Audio is no longer compressed so that's a huge plus.

Mobile version has super simplified combat to make up for the missing screen. so tap an enemy to attack with Shiki, drag down to attack with Josh, and draw to attack with Beat. it results in using pins that match the partners attack input to get cross combos and build your super. Other than Combat, the game looks better, sounds better, and has additional music that the DS version didnt have. There are micro transaction as well, for better than in game food, money, and crafting items. all totally ignore-able content, and not forced. you just have to talk to a cute reaper loli to access the store.

Let's you choose which level stats you have with greater reward for greater difficulty. Not technically an ez-mode because the max level available is based on earned experience.
Throwing objects around at enemies is greatly improved. Used to avoid those pins to some degree but in this version I'm going to be using them a lot I think.

Plenty of grinding. Not really for levels but digestion and collecting pins. Make sure your pins are good and leveled up.
Get good gear. Figure out your rhythm with your pins. For me its slice, shoot, slash, because of my load out.
