MN9 is ALMOST there. Here's how to fix it:

>Graphics

It needs cel shading, more detail, better models and better backgrounds

>levels

Levels need to be redesigned. Mostly just boring hallways. No, this isn't what the best MM games did.

>Gimmicks

Lose the dashing to kill enemies gimmick. Limit or remove dashing entirely. You can just infinite dash through the whole game and it kind of ruins it. MM's slide was okay because it was much more limited.

You can have detail and cell shading. It's up to the art style. Most Cel shading replicates simple Western Cartoony style.

He fires shots at you from the room he is in (i.e. if he's in a room in the left of the one you're in, shots will fly in from the left). The hallways have little probes that redirect his shots at you if you're nearby, but they're fucking easy to avoid. Once you find him, you shoot at him a couple of times and he'll go hide somewhere else. Rinse and repeat. Once you find him 3-4 times, you get taken to the pre-boss hallway where you face him in the easiest battle of the game (yes, easier than the tutorial boss).

Literally copying Azure, shoot to weaken and then gimmick attack to kill? The only other game they have, and they rehash right away. Amazing. They were better off just straight copying Megaman's jump n shoot, because atleast Megaman games are dead. And considering most of the people who care about the game were just desperate and neglected Megaman, they really knew how to exploit the idiots.

In game, when the camera isn't zoomed in, the character models look somewhat passable to say the very least.
But holy shit, zooming in on those models was a terrible fucking idea. They couldn't make some different, more detailed models to swap in for scenes like that?

Realize that it's a fucking Mega Man game.

Everyone backed this project because it was a replacement for Mega Man. We didn't need fucking 3D models and voice acting and dashing shit like that. You could have given us a reskinned Mega Man game and we'd be happy.

I guess Inafune wanted to do the dash thing because he wanted to make the gameplay more actiony, like a Platinum game. This isn't bad in of itself, but they could have easily modified it to make it more strategic.
