I decided to give Nvidia a spin for the first time since I got a dud 7870. Got a 970 and despite the memes it's a good card. But then the driver updates came. Display driver started crashing all the time. Then the temperature started rising. Then the performance degraded. Uninstalled the shitty drivers with DDU and went back to 355. Everything is back to normal but more recent games run disappointingly. I just said fuck it and grabbed my r7 265 and started using it and it works far better. The performance is a bit worse but everything else, including stability is way better.
Tldr wait for HBM2, Nvidia is a fucking dogshit company that intentionally gimps their own shit because they're currently top dog and have no need to improve as a company.
