If you had to hide behind a door in the first place, then you're probably up against something you can't handle. Or at the very least, you bought a few seconds, maybe a bit longer, to think up a way to handle whatever is behind that door. If you even know what's behind it.
It's the illusion of security is what scares people so much. It stresses them, they become panicked. They need to find a solution, and that very quickly.I can't remember the last time i played a game that put me into a tense situation. I yearn for excitement.
