just use msi afterburner and furmark or whatever. increase the clock speed etc. by small amounts each time and test your graphics card temperature with each increment using programs like furmark. if you see your gpu temp getting past 70-75 C degrees (which is actually quite high but whatever) or if you see artifacts on screen during furmark then it means you overclocked too much. if you see small increments you ll understand what i mean. there are several guides on internet as well;

My niggas

Has anyone tried overclocking it? What's the maximum clock without fucking up the card?
>>
>>339486945
well my card goes up to at most 60 degrees while playing games. in addition to temp. its also the voltage/power. if you increase the clock too much it means the card also draws more power which can also harm the part.

the best way to understand is to look for artifacts on the screen. like during a furmark stress test if you see stuff that shouldnt be there it means your card is at its limits already. so in order to not damage your card outright, as i said before, you should increase the clocks gradually and slowly, like 10-20 per try.

but i am not sure 100% what temp is best. as i said i try not to go above 60 C degrees. Still furmark always pushes your card to its limits so furmark temp and gaming temp are not equal most of the times.

And wait.

And wait...

I even wanted to buy new PC with one of those new Radeon cards and i7-6700K at the end of July, but everybody keep saying "WAIT FOR ZEN".

And so the story continues...

Do I go for a 6700k or 5820k (6800k) paired with a 1080?
Haswell-E and Broadwell-E hexacores are nice, but I'm not sure if I can justify the 180€ difference.

>>
>>339487591
Why do you have 64 GB of RAM and a 1080? Are you rich?
>>
>>339475734

8 is actually pretty low.

With just steam and FF on Win10 with a few other background apps, it's 3gb.

Some games I play push 2-3GB. PoE is one of my favorite games and that is notoriously RAM heavy. That plus me watching a HD video or stream in the background, or streaming netflix, listening to music, whatever, can push me well past 8. Sometimes I have enough stuff open on old tabs that I reach 1.5gb mem in just FF alone.

So yeah, 8GB isn't really enough anymore.

Only have a 650 Ti. It's not completely shitty but it's really showing it's age now, struggling with a couple new games even if I set them on low+720p.

I might upgrade it (and my CPU) for Bannerlord. Never wanted a game so badly and it would suck if I couldn't run it well or I got stuck with 20v20 battles max.

We don't really know how either will perform but if you have a 1080p monitor polaris should be perfectly fine, 1440p will probably be ok too except for more demanding games.

You'll definitely be fine then, a 1070 might even be a bit excessive but it's fine if you plan on keeping the GPU for a while and/or upgrading your monitor sometime.
>>
I've had a 660 for a while now. Nvidia made some deal with the devil when they made this card. For it's age and price, it's really good.

Though it's starting to show it's age so I'm probably gonna buy into the hype and get a 1070 or 1080.
>>
Sold my ZOTAC 980 Ti at the beginning of the month for like $550. Bought a GTX 1080 along with a new case that will be here on Thursday (I would have waited for custom cards, but I am tired of not being able to play anything), as well as some minor upgrades (Second SSD for newer games, etc).

I will probably get a Liquid Cooling kit for it once they launch to avoid thermal throttling. At this point I am tired of buying GPUs, so this will hopefully last me awhile.
