After months of deliberating and bickering, it's time for /v/ to complete the tournament and choose a Game of the Year for 2015.yes, it's true what happened. I'm ok now

While I really like the story of W3, the better game here is clear to me.
Rocket League has great replay value and is both easily accessible but has a nice learning curve. It's probably the best sports title in years, while W3 is just another narrative-focused open world fest.

I honestly enjoyed the expansion more than the main game and even then it was story first game second. No its not a cinematic crap shoot like uncharted, but at least Rocket league is a game.

Alien Isolation is the best survival horror game in over a decade and the single best thing to happen to the Alien framchise since the original film.

Personally I'd say yes. Alien is my favorite movie, and they nailed the atmosphere 100%. It's a rather long game, took me ~25 hours. Some people consider the length a detriment but almost all the areas were great and many of the best moments came in the latter half.
The xeno itself is truly impressive. The AI is (usually) on point and the way it acts is what's unsettling. More often than not it feels like you're actually being hunted by a real, angry animal. It does bug out sometimes though which can be annoying but for the most part it's a really impressive foe. I'd highly recommend the game, I've played through it three times now. I was really wary of it and wasn't even going to buy it at first but after pirating and beating it once I bought it full price. Don't regret it.
If you don't get the DLC in the purchase pirate those though for sure, I don't think they're worth the asking price but the Nostromo thing is pretty neat.

Rocket League seems like the obvious choice to me.
I have yet to see a single complaint here against it except for memes that refer to it as "car soccer" and "normie league", and yeah, it's popular with the masses, but it's a great game and it's not like we're talking about skyrim.
Actually, if anything, after Fallout 4, Witcher is the skyrim of 2015.

I'll admit the combat isn't the greatest, and alot of the monster quests are too formulaic but something about it clicked for me in a way that an rpg hasn't done in a long time. The sidequests were just so detailed and well written.

I can honestly say I got caught up in the witcher hype at release and at the time was enthralled by the vast world and seemingly endless amount of content, as were most publications it seemed.
But now that the game has been out, I've really started to understand how bland everything is. Like, it's a good game, make no mistake, but it's so much of the same with no stimulus for me to keep playing other than to just beat more of the side quests.
Meanwhile Rocket league still feels fresh and exciting every time I work with team mates to win a game, and when I lose, I learn something and get better.
I think it's important that we have these votes a few months after the year has ended for this reason.
So yeah, voting for Rocket League.

Pic related, i've played the fuck out of Witcher 3 because I had nothing else to do and it's just a terribly average game.
It excels nowhere. Dialogue is outright watered down (2 choices on average), combat is serviceable at best, story is generic and uninteresting. The only worthwhile part of the game are its visuals and side quests that even then get hampered by the disgustingly formulaic design (Follow red trails every damn time).
Sadly, Blood and Wine is looking to be no better.
Bloodborne was the significantly better game and probably one of the best games i've played. It's a shame that it was exclusive and as a result of this, hated by the vast majority of /v/

Always difficult to compare games of such very different genres, but I think the scope and depth makes it much better than the fast paced quick style, blah blah blah. Just comes down to preference or whatever. I'm loving the story and environment so far though and I think it deserves the victory!

Witcher 3.
I played both, but never really got into Rocket League. I guess I'm not into that style of game, though most of my friends play and love it.
The Witcher, however, I've played for close to a hundred hours. It's grabbed me like big sandbox games haven't grabbed me in a very long time. It has flaws, yes. The combat can be lackluster and there's a disappointing lack of choice in some quests, but it's pulled me in like nothing since I was a kid playing Morrowind for the first time. The writing and world building is all fantastic, and it's managed to pull off the EVERY CHOICE MATTERS thing better than any other big RPG. I'm moving to the DLC now, and I expect to continue having fun with it for a very long time.

Rocket League Easily deserves this.

Although Rocket League is great fun, I've been a fan of the Witcher since TW1, and the send off for Geralt was good. Sure the game has its flaws, particularly with the combat and the mid-story, but there is so much to do in the game, and more that just arrived with the new expansion.

I've read The Last Wish and The Sword of Destiny are short story compilations. They give a great setup for the world and some of the characters. I can't vouch for the rest of the series, haven't read them yet, but from what I've heard the rest make a more consistent story. Problem is that some of the books still aren't officially translated. Solid RPG, fucking gorgeous, voice acting and facial animations are great considering the amount of dialogue. Combat is passable, but is only fun on the highest difficulty with non-cheese specs. Lots of issues with both the first and second games were solved. Hearts of stone was a fucking blast and Blood and Wine looks to be more of the same.
All that, and Rocker League is a fucking dumbed down football game. Great for parties, but it doesn't belong on this list at all.

Rocket League is like all other indie games to me. Something you absolutely love at first and can spend hours playing, but eventually get sick of because it's the same exact thing each time.
Witcher 3 you can spend 60 or more hours on and beat it. Then you can come back some other time, play it again and still see things you missed the first time around, get a new ending, take a different path for some of the quests.
Not to mention it's a game that is actually getting a full blown EXPANSION as opposed to some shitty little dlc that adds a couple hours of content for $15-30.
It is deserving of Game of the year.

Rocket League is the better game.
Witcher 3 has a nice story and world and all that, but it's lacking in the most important department: gameplay. All the fighting is just mashing square, or drinking a potion to make your numbers bigger when you mash square. There's light and heavy, but no combos or special techniques, etc. Instead of a wide weapon variety, you get a different type of sword with the exact same moveset, but is better for damage against enemies with a different colored health bar. It has no depth or skill involved, and as such suffers as an action game. Witcher lost a lot of points with me over this area alone. Contrast something like Dragon's Dogma, another fantasy RPG lacking in many of the things W3 excels in, but DD's combat is so damned fun people still talk about it four years later.
Rocket League, above all else, focuses on fun, fast soccer in cars gameplay, and its updates revolve around adding new game modes and maps. It's also amazingly easy to pick up and play, since a single match only lasts several minutes.
That's the main difference. Witcher feels like it could be a movie or interactive novel and nothing would be lost. Rocket League remembers it's still supposed to be a fucking game.
