Yes. Resident Evil 4's gameplay is so fucking good, you don't need a story or any context to have fun with it. The Last of Us, though it does have an okay multiplayer mode, is not good without some kind of stupid story backing it up. It's gameplay isn't good. It's "story" is good though, apparently.

There is not just 1 measurement. It is story, graphics, game play, world building, ect... It is never just 1 thing. If game play is the only thing that matters you may as well put Tetris up with Resident Evil 4 which both have flawless game play for what they are.

10. Tony Hawk's Underground
>I've always been a fan of skateboarding games and this one still has everything I've ever wanted from one. I loved the (at the time) unprecedented amount of customization and slinging tricks was beautifully fluid. And how the hell did a skateboarding game have a good story? Sequel's good too, but got a bit too cartoonish.
9. Pokemon Platinum
>I've played Pokemon ever since I was a kid and this is still the one game I've sunk the most time into. I loved the exploration-heavy region, the side quests and gimmicks, and a lot of the new pokemon, too. Sinnoh has, literally, DEEPEST LORE of the whole franchise, too. Also the absolute best Nuzlocke candidate imo
8. Batman: Arkham Asylum
>This game came out in the peak of my Batman phase and I couldn't have loved it more. Fan service out the ass and a huge amount of content that still kept the game intimate and, to its benefit, kind of creepy. Still dig it compared to its overblown sequels that suffer from "Banjo Tooie syndrome."
7. Kirby Air Ride

6. Super Castlevania 4
>Eight direction whip, amazing music and art direction, and some of the hands-down best platforming action on SNES. I love playing through once a year, usually around Halloween.

5. Resident Evil 4
>The moment I knew this game went from "I love this" to "this is going to be one of my favorite games of all time" was when a Dr. Salvador hopped into my mine cart during the final chapter in the castle. The game is intense and action-packed while still throwing enough curveballs to keep you spooked (the Sound Design is fucking amazing and really keeps you alert and antsy) and the cheesy, melodramatic dialogue/story is phenomenal.
4. Wario Land 4
>I'm realizing that there's a lot of 4's on my list. But yeah, whenever I see this game mentioned on /v/ someone links to that whole goddamn book someone wrote about how the game is a masterpiece of game design. That more than sings its praises. Also, I've always loved the quirky sound design and music.
3. Red Dead Redemption
