v8 of my guide. Wasn't sure how to fill in the gap left by the fixed Chargefield and Icicles, so I just stuffed another item in that's known to cause stability issues.
For those curious about the changed Hoof description, high movespeeds for extended periods d lead to desyncs, and the problem is exaggerated if players have high ping or the host has a slower connection. It's exactly the reason that /v/ dropped the Spirit artifact. If it weren't a problem, we absolutely would love to use Spirit. The breakpoint is around 20-25 Hoofs when I'm hosting. I've used 15 as a cap because it leaves some room to pick up a few more, but is also a speed where you can already outrun bosses no problem.
The updated Looping notes is pretty much what it says. More players means more variables the game is trying to track, and more ways things can stuff up. From my own observations, the number of players you START a game with seems to have a pretty high correlation with crashes when looping.
HAN-D now has Chargefield Generator and Golden Gun in his item recommendations.
Sniper/Engineer now have Hopoo Feather in recommendations.
Would welcome any other thoughts on changes made. Criticisms welcome if you can justify your thoughts, but keep in mind I've set a few parameters/goals in mind when making this guide which might be incompatible with the perfect minimax builds.

Fyi snipers don't benefit from soldier's syringe. It increases the speed of the aim bar, but that doesn't actually increase the damage. It's bugged and the aim damage is based off how long the bar charges, ignoring the speed at which it fills up. Because of this, snipers are actually harmed by syringes; they reduce the max damage of the aim ability.
Does this game still crash when you get a crapton of items? I like to keep rolling through the levels, but it always just crashes.

I tested it way back in v1.2.2 for the earliest versions of my guide, and again in v1.2.8. Damage is by bar fill, not by timer, as far as I can tell. In fact my non-Syringe test shots were on average about 5% weaker than my max-Syringe shots.
Same deal with Miner, he was tested too.
I ran tests against basic Lemurians, Sand Crabs, Magma Worms, and Giant Colossi. (ie, Honour off)
I ran tests with and without Glass, and using zero other items.
I controlled for player level and timer, and compared it against the expected damage based on the indicated damage numbers.
Pretty much everything matched up as expected though.

I discovered the new Bane tier item comp while browsing through Fireden. Made a few modifications. In my experience, an item only goes into God Tier if it's an enormously useful must-take for all classes. I main Acrid, and he has little use for the Alien Head with Giant Amethyst. GA also goes into offensive items as it's that powerful, but only broken for Bandit so he retains his note.

As cool as the Alien Tree thing is, imho it really belongs in the "doesn't really do anything" tier, or bad tier at best.
Frost Relic, in my opinion, is God tier. It does rather ridiculous damage and even scales extremely efficiently. It can carry you through the game easily, although I can see the argument for how it is a bit less useful in Spite.

It's a list for multiplayer, so while I absolutely agree, it stays put. Rules are totally different for single-player.

You're not an Acrid player so it's okay that you don't understand, but the IDP is excellent with Caustic Sludge and moving rapidly over a set area.
Trouble with Frost Relic is it requires proximity, and that's not easily or always doable for many classes. It's still awesome but not "everyone always benefits from this under ALL circumstances".

I agree that the problem is that he really lacks mobility, which is unfortunate since his "defensive" mechanic really leaves a lot to be desired.
I would either make Shield Bash some sort of movement ability, or perhaps make his Ultimate have a large blowback, so it sends him backwards (allowing him to reposition quickly).

Risk of Rain 2 should not in any way replace Risk of Rain 1, as it would be redundant. It should be one of three things:
- A similar game with a significant change in scale, so zoomed in on one more detailed character or perhaps each player controlls a squad or team. The former has already been done in Deadbolt so I see more potential in the latter.
- A similar game with a significant change in perspective. An isometric or top down view, or perhaps a first person game of some sort. Top down could have potential.
- A different genre of game altogether in the same setting. This easily meshes with the above changes, but can represent novel forms altogether. For instance, a ship piloting game like X-Wing or Starfox, or a management game like Papers, Please where you run an office in the shipping company and attempt to satisfy customers whose orders were lost while finding out about the crash.
