The reason the new version is easy is because the gameplay was so drastically improved. No longer have a half second input lag and have to rely on millions of potions.

There's apparently a hell difficulty that's kind of like Fury mode in Muramasa. Your health never goes up and most of the bosses can kill you in one hit.
Pretty hyped. Got the storybook edition on preorder. I don't recall ever beating the original, I think. I got to the finale bosses and just stopped playing. Grinding food burnt me out a bit. Guess I didn't need to do it but I felt like my health was too low. I remember that undead dragon pissing me the fuck off.
The new combat system is definitely a much needed improvement. It's much less cumbersome. Being able to bulk eat/plant is such an amazing quality of life change as well as doing away with phozon level.

Pretty much. His demon form has something called a Berserk gauge now that fills up when you attack then you can active demon form and go apeshit. The gauge drains as long as you remain in demon mode. You can cancel out of it whenever too. It lasts a long fucking time if it's full. It's pretty crazy the amount of damage you can do.

Bro there's a demo you could check out real quick. It's not very big in size. They redid the whole combat system for every character and streamlined things more with alchemy/food. Combat is a lot faster now with more variety.

Leifthrasir is not the same as vanilla Odin Sphere on PS2. It is vastly different and vastly improved. It comes with the original game in HD as well, so you may as well play that.
