Does anyone think game graphics reached their necessary level of complexity with the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox?
I feel like that was the level when developers could basically show whatever they wanted to. Everything after has been pretty much unnecessary. Agree or disagree?
Absolutely not.
PS2 games look like absolute shit on anything that isn't a crt. 1080p and closely related resolutions are all that's needed.

Id rather every game have its own artstyle instead of trying to be realistic as possible

I'm mad that instead of getting g more advanced/complex systems we just get more detailed visuals.
GTA IV -> GTA V is the perfect example, its like the technology was a step back

Running at higher internal resolution on PCSX2 looks amazing though.
I just wish they made more games for the gamecube today. They still make em for the cast n sheit

>a step back
>significantly better animations and graphics
>larger world
>more things in said world
>on the same console generation
No. More advanced graphical capabilities can allow for the rendering required for more advanced games.

I think that until games like Uncharted 4 come along. Really unbelievable how good Uncharted 4 looks on my PS4.

Seeing how tons of games make do without the same tech level now on smart devices, I'd say you're right to a certain degree.
People could see what objects and characters were, and visuals could be produced on a reasonable budget.

I agree.
Too much time is wasted on how shiny and pretty and wholesome graphics are like it's a damn pixar movie

Eh, maybe if you only count the absolute best looking games of that gen, like FFX, Twilight Princess, etc.
