Yeah, Technically Sega is in charge of the IP and holds all the publishing rights to Chrome Hounds.
If FROM really wanted they could pull a Darksouls. Like how when they made Demons Souls, and Sony had the publishing rights and console exclusive deal, so they slightly changed the name to Dark Souls, went multiplat with a different publisher and basically made the same game to stick it to Sony.

AC1 still has some fun controls. Honestly it gets worse on PS2.
The 2 last games in the series are online games pretty much and the servers are of course dead, ACV was dead on arrival literally, ACV doesn't even have servers anymore even though you NEED them to get parts. Unless you want to play with like 10 guys worldwide skip Verdict Day.
Just play AC4 and For Answer. They're directed by Miyazaki, they focus on good single player content, has the best controls by a landslide, run 60 FPS, and the mechs feels like they finally function as intended. It feels completely different than AC1 though.
