Why do I always drop this game once I get the the world map? Midgar and the raid on Shin-Ra is the coolest shit, but everything afterwards just seems so fucking boring. I don't give a shit about sephiroth. I want my cyberpunk city where crazy scientists try to breed girls with lions, dammit!

Because you can't commit. It's the same reason you'll forever be a /v/irgin.
>>339349013
Honestly I'd recomend using a walkthrough and just going through the game getting all the shit and experiencing all the game has to offer. Obviously this isn't the ideal experience of the game (although there is something to be said for using a walkthrough during games where endings/significant content is hidden) but using a walkthrough will give you a strong sense of direction that you might feel is lacking now you are in the more open world map.
>>339349013
It didn't age well. Play V, X or Tactics.
>>339349013
Because you're a faggot. The game gets even better once you get to the world map.
Because Midgar is a very interesting city with an engaging and interesting city, that is quickly thrown away for standard video game world #453214 with generic chase the bad guy and save the world plot.
FF7 went from 10/10 to shit in the matter of minutes, it's actually really impressive.
>>339351452
>with an engaging and interesting city
story*
>>339349013
Because you're a casual.
As soon as you're not being hand-held through a very specific set of pretty-looking backgrounds and you actually have to put some self-propelled impetus to keep moving, you get bored because you're no longer going through a literal funhouse ride.
It's fine, i'm sure there's plenty of games for people like you. Those cookie clicker and angry birds and whatnot.
>>339349013
well if you continue you see towns that look like they were pieced together from an apocalypse. There is also the gold saucer, felt like I was in a Disneyland electric parade.
>>339351268
>le "games age" maymay
>>339349013
Did you even see flashback at Nibelheim at least? Because the parts at the reactor with Jenova are some of the most gorgeous cyberpunk-esque scenes in video games.
God knows why they made a machine angel to store Jenova, but I'm glad they did.
>>339351715
Is this some deep level of irony or blatant retardation?
You're still being handholded through the game once you get to the overworld, there's no branching path or anything to explore, the only difference now is that the funhouse is emptier and more boring.
>>339351452
>interesting city with an interesting city
>>339354285
Cognitive dissonance. All FF games are shit.
>>339352175
It's true though, game design, graphics, UI, and sound all change over time.
>>339349013
Just drop it and never play it again. Same with every game you play, if your heart isn't in it, it's pointless waste of time.
>>339349013
Because FF7 is overrated and babbies first FF
Everything post midgar is shit and most people don't even remember anything post midgar
>>339349013
>the game stopped looking edgy so I can't play it anymore.
>>339349013
Try taking some ritalin.
>>339355696
Final Fantasy in general is babby's first JRPG series. The only exceptions are the ones everyone agrees are shit aside from a vocal minority of hipsters i.e II and VIII.
as a speedrunner of this game, Midgar is pure white noise
the real run starts at Cosmo Canyon
>>339349013
>Not liking Kalm, the comfiest town in all of FF7
>Not liking hearing and seeing Sephiroth for the first time and him kicking ass at the Nibelheim reactor.
I do agree the materia cave and Fort Condor parts are pretty boring. If you can make it to Junon, the game starts picking up again.
>>339357692
Junon itself is a little boring for me but the ship is where shit gets real, more so than the Shinra HQ since you actually see Sephiroth in the present and fight Jenova for the first time.
>>339357575
>speedrunner
>of a turn-based JRPG
Fucking kill yourself.
>>339357692
Fort Condor fortunately doesn't last very long. You don't even have to play the pointless minigame anyway, just let the enemies come to you and take them out yourself.
>>339357870
You finish ff7 in under 8 hours and I will
on stream
>>339352175
>games don't age
I can't even play Zelda 1 these days because it's so archaic. Zelda 2 is still cool since it's really one of a kind.
>>339353401
That's my favorite scene, too, anon.
Followed by your actual visit to Nibelheim where Cloud's memories don't add up to reality.
Has any other JRPG protag been gaslighted that badly?
