The mana series was it's own thing

I played the game just for the story.
The music was meh. The game play was ok. But the story was 10/10

"Sword of Mana," was remade from Final Fantasy Legends III. At least, I recall the story from III being, literally, a carbon copy sans a few discrepancies. Hell, the start of the game along with the first boss fight in the coliseum are the exact same shit.

Final Fantasy Legend = SaGa series
Final Fantasy Adventure is what you're referring to, which is Seiken Densetsu; Seiken Densetsu 2 is Secret of Mana.

It was barebones but I know that was just a product of its time, I enjoyed it nonetheless.
I couldn't get into FFL2 enough to finish it though, maybe I was just worn out on JRPGs at the time but I just stopped playing it even though I recognize it being a lot better than FFL1 gameplay-wise.
