As if the game didn't drown you in magic-resistant shields, most of which can parry spells. I never understood why Shrine of Amana was considered difficult.
I felt like the map design and atmosphere got thrown way off in this game. I'm sure the rest was fine, I just knew after I killed the Smelter Demon that I wasn't going to sink nearly as many hours in as the first.
Its a fine game, its just a less cohesive effort than its predecessor.

They were easy if you managed to kill one of the three while it was separated from the other 2. If you just jump down like I did as a pure melee character, good fucking luck. Having all 3 of them do their spinny 3-4 hits at the same time. Ancient dragon was complete bullshit. Its fly up in the air and breathe fire on the entire platform insta-killing 90% of people who didn't invest shit loads of points into HP.
