I've never played a DMC game before but I loved bayonutta. I take it this is the same minus the cumdumpster ?

Nothing, and I seriously mean no other product on this planet is as bad as SH HD Collection.
The DMC HD is alright for the most part.
Yes, Bayonetta is pretty much DMC with a femme fatale sexbomb as the MC. The first game shows some RESI roots, though, as it was literally meant to be the RE4 at one point. It's not exactly survival horror though.

What's so bad about 2 ?
The DMC collection is great. I think it might have some stuff removed from 3, though, like 1 move for the rocket launcher
DMC is more focused on individual moves while Bayonetta is more focused on dialing combos
Play them all at least. In order.
Don't force yourself to finish 2 though. It's not that good and not really worth the time, but I think you should at least experience it.

It's good.
I have a one second freeze in DMC3 per playthrough on my PS3, but it works perfectly otherwise.

I played it on the vita through PlayStation now. It's pretty good, probably better on the Xbox
Enjoying Bayonetta doesn't gaurantee you'll enjoy DMC.
Gameplay in DMC is nowhere near as accessible as in Bayoneta.Bayonetta did away with most button based combos and made the combat flow all throught leading to "infinite" number of combos you can pull off.
