the main gimmick about it being shoot then dash and chain your dashes already limits how you're going to approach enemies with your piercing propertied lemons to just running up shooting and dashing to avoid damage.
they already made a similar game called azure striker gunvolt which has a shoot enemy three times to inflict max damage mechanic and it eventually just boiled down to doing the same damn thing over and over again.
if the gameplay is as advertised you could just play gunvolt, the only difference being spritework as opposed to embarrassingly bad low poly.

I have downloaded the full game leaked by ProtoFaggot before he took the links down and played through the whole thing.
I can perfectly understand how the demo may be frustrating, but the transformations actually make the game a whole lot more enjoyable, adding some actual strategy. Also, many of the other stages are way better in terms of enemy placement and level design.

In Mega Man X, for instance, some enemies require you to stop and keep shooting until it dies (like the big blue enemy in the intro stage). It stalls the action, even if for just a little bit.
The dash mechanic in MN9 helps alleviate his a bit. You can keep moving AND kill enemies at the same time.

They're limited too, but it isn't as restrictive as in Mega Man. They replenish energy over time (as long as you have them selected), and absorbing enemies also restores energy. Most of them waste much more energy than in Mega Man though. Also, I've found that they're very useful, even if No. 7's form (the sword) can be compared a bit with MM2's Metal Blade, as in it wastes very little energy and kills most enemies with few attacks. Being short ranged though, it's more restrictive.

no, the game plays like a spazzy collage, forcing you to dosh for EVERYTHING, bosses are frustrating, forcing you to deal a certian amount of damage , and then you must dash into them or they RECOVER THE DAMAGE YOU DEALT TO THEM. its lazy and frustrating, especially since they have no set pattern, and guys like mighty number 1 its literally a tossup of what he will do.

This doesn't work like you'd hope when you're limited to just the pea shooter, a row of enemies will absorb the fire and only the front will be stunned so you can dash through them to absorb their Xel.
Unless you have the power-up that gives you piercing fire, this can really impede the flow of the game. Maybe the transformations actually help with this.

You can kill them without dashing it just takes forever. The combo system is fucked anyway and shouldn't be a thing from the demo I played there's moments where enemy placement stops you from getting 100% on each enemy you dash through.

no its frustrating, and boring, you dont even actually have to dash into them, just dash near or past them and it counts, it requires no skill whatsoever, shoot until they change color, then dash by, thats it.
also, only ability worth shit is the blade, as it can deflect almost all projectiles in the game.

On paper yes, but in practice it's actually worse. Put three enemies in a straight line, in Mega Man you can just shoot them. Now you got to shoot the first one until you can dash into him, dash into then shoot the second and so forth otherwise you gimp yourself on the upgrade from the dash.
That ends up taking longer overall.

Usually if there are three enemies all together there is usually an enemy that lets you absorb the pierce powerup to take care of all three of them at once.
