A gamer by definition is someone who plays games damn near all the time
Just like a football player is someone who trains, plays it frequently and follows it closely
Rather than some joe that plays on the weekend every couple of weeks
A chess player is someone who plays chess at chess parks/cafés, follows the grandmasters and goes to tournaments
Rather than a couple of friends that play postal chess where every move is 1 per week or has a chess master.
Like a gamer is someone who plays games 90% of their free time, follows new releases and news on companies, follows new tech and current ongoings. "gamers" come in all shapes and sizes ranging from professional to casual like other past times. like other past times aswell the only provider is that you spend near all of your time doing it to consider yourself one of them.
You're not a gamer if you only play flappy birds or candy crush on your phone inbetween checking facebook on the bus.

the term "gamer" is for spergs and tryhards that want to feel unique, even though "gaming" is a booming multibillion dollar enterprise.
