You need to ramp up your sign damage quite significantly for it to be effective. I'm at around 250%. Depending on the gear I'm wearing.
If you're sign damage is at 0% it's just a semi useful skill to push one or two guys out of the fight for a few seconds.
And it does damage based percentage wise on the max health of the enemies.

You have that quest line with Triss in Novigrad where you help her smuggle the mages out. Then she disappears until the Kaer Morhen fight.
Later on you can explore an old elf ruin in a cave with her, iirc. I couldn't do that quest when I went with Yen.
Also, you can mock Yen for throwing out the bed in which you fucked Triss. She goes full on harpy mode and teleports you out into the middle of the lake for that.

Witcher 1 is has the only terrible system that never breaks free of repetition, because it's a rhythm game.
The combat isn't GOOD in 2 or 3, but it's serviceable. Crank up the difficulty and stop bitching about it, we all know it's not the best shit, but it doesn't fucking have to be.

I'm about halfway through TW3. I'm a huge fan of the world but I can't get back into the game.
It's just stale and repetitive. The quests all feel samey, Witcher contracts are dull, talk to this guy, follow glowing tracks, talk to someone else then fight the monster. There's not enough variety in the combat to keep it interesting, both in terms of enemies and tactics available. And the main quest being nothing but repeat Princess is in another Castle gives me nothing to drive me forward.

Toad boss is one of those that require a certain tactic, this case putting yrden down and then hacking at it when its stuck. Rest of time you spend rolling around and kiting it. Tomorrows 1.2 patch is pretty much the enhanced edition. Balance changes, interface and inventory changes, performance improvements and tons of other stuff. 6 pages of patch notes to be precise. The only stuff that is exclusive to the expansion is the landmass, the quests, NPCs and items. Everything else is included in 1.2 which is free.
