Find me a game more superbly paced than this.

PROTIP:
You can't
>>
>We still have regular threads on /v/ talking about how great RE4 is
>Not a single Bioshock, Portal, or TLOU thread in sight.

Feels good.
>>
>>339233231
All of those have good pacing.
>>
>>339233119
RE4 is fantastic, but some of the Ashley sections are garbage. Saying it's the best paced game is just not true

I just beat this game last night and I allready want to play it again.
I got to ask though, why was sadler such a underwhelming boss though. All it was was shoot the eye and get the launcher then go sonic speed off the island due to ada being a cunt
>>
>>339235324
perhaps it was a story element to show that Sadler wasn't as strong as he appeared to be.

Leon seemed to have seen right through him all along.
>>
>>339235204
Ashley's sections are unique and short enough to not be garbage.

Simple sure, but they serve to break up the action.
>>
>>339235714
not to mention that

>2005, preteen me wanted to WRECK those pixels
>>
>>339235839
everybody knows, Jill and Ada are the waifus.
>>
>>339235324
The trick with final bosses is that you want it to be challenging, but also not let the player die even once as to kill the pace.
In my book, easy final bosses are fine as long as there's better, possibly secret bosses in the game. Armstrong from Revengeance doesn't give a fuck, though.
>>
>RE4 has some of the best pacing ever.
>RE6 has some of the absolute worst.

Boy, I bet the idea of a game having 4 campaigns sounded a lot cooler on paper.
>>
>>339235204
>>339235714
Bruh. Ashley's parts were long enough for me to want to kill myself. Sherry in re2 could at least run and juke shit even if it was just one section.

Really, Armstrong was a fucking great final boss.
I was hyped through the entire final battle when fighting him.
>>
>>339235964
Revengeance was so fucking fun.

2 threads for RE4 up, ghee whiz, /v/.
>>
>>339235324
It's not a bad boss battle, but the one with Krauser and "it" were just more captivating.
>>
This was the first and only re game I've played, my first M game too. I remember when my mom had bought it for me back in 05' or 06' at a Best Buy.

Man, those were really good times, speaking of which; what was life like when you picked up this game?
>>
>>339235964
Having balls to the walls final bosses is fine, if the game is designed around it properly.

Armstrong was clearly made as a huge difficulty spike, they designed him knowing people would die a shitton of times against him.
>>
>>339233119

RE4's pacing went to complete shit as soon as you went from village to castle

Whole game went to shit once you made it to the castle too
>>
>>339233119
i literally can't. it's better paced than half-life, while avoiding linearity.

fuck, i want to replay it now (and i have, like, 20 interesting games in my backlog)

Why does it feel good to deny others to discuss something they love just because lord allmighty does not like the subject matter?
>>

but castle was the most fun.

>>
>>339236968
Actually for me it was from the Castle to the Island.
I miss that helicopter guy
>>
>>339237884
but the island was the most fun.
>¡Va por él!
>¡Te voy a matar!

like, any phrase with hard "r" was a slice of fried gold.
>>
How many of you found out that the flashbang grenade istantly kill the plagas?
>>
>>339238143
Hard to believe anyone could miss it especially after the house onslaught with Luis, since several flash grenades are around and so many Plagas come up.
>>
>>339238143
there were plenty of occasions to stumble upon it.
>>
>>339236968
But the castle is fantastic Anon.

Right before it you kind of think you're figured out the rhythm of the game, but then it throws a total curve ball with an entirely new area with entirely new enemies.

It perfectly embodies the great "out of the frying pan and into the fire" flow RE4 has.
>>
>>339238283
>>339238357
I only found out when i was into the Arena with those plagas powered armor.

First time through I ran out of ammo on "it" then 10 mins later get to Krauser and said fuck this

Switchforce was on HB.
Somehow it is less praised than RE4, so maybe there is production quality goes for it.

If not - more power to them (the modders)

The project is like more than 2 years old, it has a pinned thread on the Steam Forum too.
I'm pretty certain that they will add to the base game if Capcom is not retarded.

>>339239630
Does it counts "completely rape"?
It's just a graphic mod, the gameplay is not touched.
It is based on the Ultimate HD edition.
>>
>>339239438
>>339239941
This should be illegal.
>>
>>339240217
Why it should be?
The guy felt mad after the "Ultimate HD" because it wasn't HD enough for his taste so he started to work with it and making it fucking HD for real.
I don't really see the issue.

Doesn't the HD edition have crazy deadzones on the camera stick and no in-game button mapping?
>>
>>339241514
What do you mean by deadzones?
If i remember, RE4 never had in-game button mapping?
>>
>>339242707
Remember that the camera wouldn't move until you had the stick halfway to the edge of the range if that makes sense
>>
First village bit is a fucking genius design decision. While in a typical game you'd expect the difficulty slowly go up while teaching you its mechanics like a babby, RE4 just throws you in respawning beaner infested waters with unkillable instagibbing Pedro out for your ass on a timer. You either learn how the game works, or you don't progress.

Dark Souls tried to do the same thing later, but made it all retarded in process
>>
>>339242841
I didn't have any problem with it actually.
I played RE4 more than 7 years ago on PS2 and i only played it on PC some weeks ago.
>>
>that mercenaries minigame

shit was CASH

What's bad about it?
>>
>>339243395
It's the best mercenaries game in all the saga
>>
>>339235980
How is the difficulty curve of RE6 anyway?
Isn't it all kinds of fucked because of the 4 campaigns?

Anyway, RE4 is superb. My first playthrough of it was about a year or two ago on the PC. Immediately did a pro run through when I finished.

Shares the same place in my heart as the FF / Dragon Quest / Legend of Zelda prelude and the Dark Souls character creation music.

>>339244172
>How is the difficulty curve of RE6 anyway?
Isn't it all kinds of fucked because of the 4 campaigns?

Absolutely, the campaigns overlap a bit. but ultimately they are designed to feel self-contained.

So instead of one epic game, you get 4 short and mediocre ones. The amazing feeling of progress and higher stakes fr RE4 is almost completely gone. There is no time for anything to build up and pay off. Despite the game being absolute huge it doesn't feel that way, each campaign feels isolated, meaning each campaign feels short, rushed and barebones.

It's like the most massive buffet, but you're only allowed one separate dish per day. It never comes together into a whole.
>>
>>339244678
Why should anyone wait for a texture mod? I don't think anyone's going to be bothered by some low-res textures as long as the game is great.
>>
>>339233119
The Ashley sections were not so fun but otherwise I agree. The rest of the game was fantastic.
>>
>>339244808
I liked the Leon campaign, if the game had been a whole campaign in that style it would've been much better
>>
>>339244845
I'm only using the Mod excuse to replay it again.
And their job is fucking huge, they also confirmed that Capcom "backed" the project by giving them away original texture and more shit like that.
You really can see a difference and in a good way.
>>
>>339244942
Leon's is OK, but I would argue it still feels way too rushed and short, with too much set pieces and cramped levels. It pretty much becomes exactly like the other ones when you get to China anyway.
>>
>>339236968
This. It dragged on way too long and having to drag that bimbo around (with no hiding places) killed most of my enjoyment.
>>
How do i get past shit controls? Serious question, it's the only thing keeping me away from enjoying the game.
>>
>>339245406
You cut your dick off stick it up your ass and use it as a joystick.
>>
>>339245406
Realize the game isn't about running and gunning? If you don't fully understand the controls by the time you finish the first village section, then just give up with gaming in general.
>>
>>339233231
All of those are great games too.

>>
>>339236968
Then it gets even worse once you reach the Island. Though it does pick up briefly with the introduction of the Regenerators.

Overall RE4 starts off real strong then gets progressively worse which is a shame.
