Yeah sli ain't that bad, the worst thing is that it's 2 minorly nerfed 680's so my maximum vram is 2GB, but I play 1080 @144hz so I don't necessarily need any more anyway. I'll probably update once either monitors get cheaper or games stop running well. Some of those idie games though, holy fuck they are so unopotimized especially when they don't work with sli. Maybe a GTX 1480 or something wew

AMD 7970.

My rig in general is starting to show its age. Especially since today's developers don't optimize their games as well as they should.
>>
>>339233950
Tbh I'm not using my card much, I would even say hardly.

I console game most of the time because it's comfy. True I could just plug the PC into a TV and use my xbox controller but I just don't want to mess with hackers in my mp games and fiddling around too much with settings. I just want to get in the game.

I had a 7970 GHZ Edition. Ended up "upgrading" to a 980 SC. Surprisingly a world of difference at 1080p/144HZ. I think most game devs are either financially rewarded for optimizing for NVIDIA or are just more familiar with the architecture. I really can't foresee myself switching back to AMD/ATI anytime soon.

I'm going to go on a tangent here. This reminds me of one reason I respect the console generation cycle. A successful generation will not advance unless the ecosystem fully supports it (development, consumer demand). Like with 4K gaming, it will start to manifest widespread according to the rumor mill in 2017. The market will be ready to develop games in 4K with support for mods.
>>
>>339234995
Less than 3 years. Google that shit. (7970 was 12/2011, 980 was 9/2014).

Cost on release was the same---articles online had them both hovering around 400-500 USD.

Regardless, I believe a two year old card should still be fairly competitive and the HD 7970 was not.

Non-issue, unless you're a lazy fuck.

Oh, like the benefit of having your disc scratched? Also, why would I ever buy a (non multiplayer) game on steam when I could torrent it? Free games, no steam.
>constant updates
Doesn't this apply to consoles too? I only have a ps4, rarely play it so not sure.
>indie games
Come on nigger, stop baiting
>can't borrow games
Then don't. Tell them to pirate the game if they want it, or give them your steam account to share.

You can deal with compatibility issues if you aren't an idiot. No split screen sucks but there's not much to do about it sadly.
>tv weird, shitposting on /v/, etc

ur dum.

Currently have a gtx 770 2gb
I'm going to upgrade soon but I don't know which card to take help me /v/irgins
I hesitate between r9 390 or wait for the 1070
>>
>>339243768
absolutely wait. your 770 can't be choking that hard, wait about 5 months until the new AMD cards come out and make your decision then.
Unless you have like a shitload of money to waste, just buy a 1070 instead.
>>
i got a 750ti and i oc it to about 120%. I really like my card but waiting for the 10x0 series now. so hype! hopefully the benchmarks will turn out good and my i5 6500 will be able to handle the card good.
>>
>>339243654

I usually turn down AA, maybe some other settings on games like W3, but generally I'm getting 60 FPS
>>
>>339243823
my card actually have some problems; artifacts randomly, black screen for a few seconds...
I'll have around 300-400 euros to spend
>>
>>339243930
Yeah, I think an i5 should still be enough for the newer Nvidia cards. Plenty of people are still running the 2500k, altho that one's finally showing it's age now.
>>
I have about 200€ to spent for a graphics card(would add 25€ max to that)
what would be the best choice?

my only regret is not buying a better mobo ;_;

>>339235429
You should not measure and compare their launch price anon.
7970 were rebadged into a mid range card when 980 comes out, namely the 280x.

980 performance is not comparable to 280x, and their price at the current time reflect that.

>>
>>339247984
well it's the only usable one out there, sorry your usage is so simple you can't even realize it's so much better.
Whenever I have to use someone else's computer running a shitty OS, I always ask them a number of questions like "how do you do this?" - the answer is always frustratingly the same "I don't know, I don't do that" then googling reveals you need to install third-party crap that is buggy and convoluted.
I guess if you only use your computer as a glorified smart phone then that kind of OS is good enough for you.
If you want to work efficiently and actually instruct your computer about what you want to do so that it does it for you, you need a better environment than the casual koolaid.

At this moment, none.
>cheaper production
>smaller die
>higher amount of memory per die
>higher speeds
This will completely revolutionize the way PCs work, that presentation isn't even using it's full power because currently there is no slot that can match up the speed of this.
PCI, PCI-E and SATA3 are literally too slow for this, only the RAM slots can actually give it some justice.
