This i hate most, brink had hundreds of flaws but the parkour was great

It's simpler, but it also has a higher skill ceiling. There are a lot of neat trick jumps that let you pass obstacles. My favorite is long jumping and then rapidly wall jumping off slanted edges to launch yourself a story into the air.

UI is kind of bad, but one of the few free games I never felt like pushed me to buy shit outside of the main "LOOK AT THE DEALS" part of the menu screen. Put about 70 hours in on my old PC, then the C drive died and used it as an excuse to upgrade the whole system, never bothered to reinstall.
