Neo-v is a hivemind that will shit on this ending with meme drone arguments they saw someone say once, like >>339219153 and >>339218347

it was presented very well and I was honestly in awe for a little until I thought about it briefly and realized it didn't make much sense or wasn't that big a deal anywaybut there is not a single game in existence that actually has a story both awe-inspiring and complex so this is as good as it gets basically
>>
>>339218248

what actually pisses me off is that at this exact point of the game 2K/levine proved that they had literally no idea what the fuck they were doing the whole time

It's hilarious that game pundits (for the lack of a better term) took the game seriously at all after this point. It was just so mind-bogglingly stupid and nonsensical, but not in a fun fantasy way. Just a dumb way of trying to hamfist a "serious" ending (much like paperback writers often do)

the plot went off the rails with the multi-dimensional stuff, but the gameplay wasn't even good enough so that you'd forget it

It's not just pundits like sessler, it's just a whole plethora of back rubbing inherent to 'networking' dependent western culture so you don't have shitty writers, you have 'narrative designers' instead, you don't have simplistic gameplay, you have 'ludonarrative' and don't forget 'feels' inherent to the near-whole western indie pixelshit scene, in other words video game market in the west became like shuffling through linkedin CV section.

Sessler was used to peddling his bio to corporations for a bux so he just tried to adapt to Infinite review.

The game went up it's own ass when they were fucking with the rifts in Chang's weapon shop. After that none of it made sense.

For reference, I didn't play prior bioshocks. I'll be generous and say it at least tried to present some really abstract stuff but completely fucked up in the process. Not to mention how much of a race bait the setup was, they didn't touch on that at all. It was just there to seem like it was saying something about it, trying to make it seem deeper than it actually was.

Purely on a gameplay standpoint, it wore itself out during ghost mom.

>>
>>339229580
Well you see anon Ken Levine is the man of extremes.

All Comstocks are evil and complete cunts therefore its fine to genocide all of them in every possible universe.

Fortunately we don't have to worry about universes where Comstock was a truly saintly figure and improved humanity with all that crazy quantum technology, or the universes where Comstock was pretty neutral and just lived his life and didn't become Sky Hitler.

Thanks to Ken Levine's simplifi- I mean masterful writing we never have to bother with this possible nuance.

I've never been more disappointed in a piece of media. Coming off the great first two Bioshock games, the super cool setting, the potentially unique take on jingoism and racism.

But we got worse gameplay than the previous games, super linear levels, crap weapons, flat characters, and a moronic twist at the end.

I'm rarely offended by something but this chapped my hide.

so glazing over a lot of details regarding constants being present in parallel dimensions for any other reason than keeping that story train rolling and why having a piece of somebody cut of in a rift between dimensions gives them superpowers

seriously that later part isn't really explored at all, like omniscience too

Assuming that the baptism is really the turning point of the man booker and committing patricide there isn't a massive grandfather paradox it was not especially clear if changes to the past were just supposed to create new dimensions of actually alter events in future

the dlc seemed to have indicated that it didnt really alter the past since liz is hunting down remaining bookers in which case the act itself is quite pointless

also you are forgetting the completely lack luster hold out on the blimps segment that immediately preceded that scene

that sequence bothered me

the game's asking me to find out why I ever gave ken levine any money and I'm not liking any of the possible answers
>>
Hey kids, fix Infinite!
Apparently anyone can do it, remember, you cannot be any worse than Levine.

>Booker and Elizabeth are simply wife and husband, they are like the couple from the Conjuring.
>The game has co-op between the two. Booker is Brawn, focuses on weapons. You can pick Stealth, Up Close, or Mid Range weapons, each path culminates on a Silenced Sniper Rifle, Super Shotgun, Magic SMG powered up by plasmids / tonics. Power ups include Modern RPG, Futuristic Laser Rifle, or Steam Punk Mini-Gun.
>Elizabeth is based around Plasmid and Magic.

>Comstock is a guy who is this futuristic guy who abducts people with abilities, game starts with booker running frantically, in midst battle on Columbia with no other explanation.
>If you start as Elizabeth, you get to fight freaks inside a cage.

>Comstock is a guy who is this eugenics obsessed guy who built his futuristic utopia from his power to see through dimensions, and experiments on Elizabeth (A telepath) to boost his own power. He must be stopped because he is a douche, and he holds their kid, Anna who might possess an even greater power, but she just teleports around Columbia. No plot twists.

>Comstock experiment mid game goes wrong and Booker and Elizabeth travel through the multiverse, arriving at rapture, Von Braun, a third location, a fourth location, the 80's. Anna is the key to stop this.

>In Game decisions only affect other possible futures and NPCs. From a world full with Ayyliens, to Shodan conquering the world, a 90's version of the future similar to shadowrun, a wild west world, or a world where humanity evolves into a hivemind.

>He didn't play the DLC

Thank god you have been spared of that.

I'll give you a slight spoiler: Daisy gets retconned extremely hard in the DLC to the point of absolute insanity.

Its like they tried to salvage a terrible written and wasted character and writing more about her made everything 100x worse.

For fucks sake don't play the DLC, just read a synopsis or summary. Cause the writing is somehow even worse than the base game.
>>
so why was the leather and copper clad bird man invulnerable again

besides the writers saying so
>>
>>339234295

Because they couldn't figure out how to make his boss fight.
>>
>>339234295
why did the enemy type with no eyes and huge funnels for ears turn out to be deaf but with a projected vision cone?

We may never truly know

I thought it was a retarded and hamfisted attempt to obfuscate their butchery of quantum mechanics and the many worlds interpretation with spectacle and nostalgia baiting.
>>
>>339220752
Legacy of Kain and Planescape: Torment shit all over Bioshock Infinite's sorry excuse for a story.
>>
>>339218248
I enjoyed the meta-commentary about crushing expectations to make a sequel to a game as revered as Bioshock. And the re-hashing of Jungian/Christopher Booker influenced philosophy to why sequels kind of always suck.

MGS2 did it better a decade before it though.

>Woman you hardly know offers you a deal
>Try to solve problem by hopping to a different dimension
>Try to solve other problem by hopping a second time
Shit, doesn't that, by definition negate the first problem being solved?
>Learn that in this dimension Booker is a dead wear hero
>Learn that the woman you only learned about a hour ago was your subordinate for years
>This woman is awestruck by the mere sight of you alive
>Booker still expects her to know and keep up to their deal from two dimension hops ago

At this point I learned that Booker is medically retarded and that I'm playing as an imbecile.

How did it take you that long? Even ignoring the "Wait a minute, that card..." moment, he has to be retarded to wave his marked hand around even though there's posters everywhere telling people to look out for the dude with that mark on his hand and throwing the baseball with said hand after being explicitely warned not to.

You know what's funny to me about Bioshock Infinite...

Before I played it, I'd had the ending spoiled to me by /v/, except that I'd misinterpreted the spoilers and concocted an astoundingly better alternative story that never was.

See, I knew that Comstock was Booker but I'd somehow taken that to mean that Booker went through the events of Bioshock Infinite, then there was a big reveal or some climactic event towards the end after which Booker has a drastic change in character and then travels back in time to set things right in his own way in the new persona of Comstock. There were even small things that pointed to this possibility in the game--like how Comstock knew to be on the lookout for someone with AD on their hand.

I was so excited to reach the ending to see what dramatic reveal was going to be what set the plot of the game in motion. It wasn't until Booker killed Comstock that I realized this was the ending I was going to get. Then all the bullshit scenes that make negative sense like in the OP image was the shit cherry on top of the cake.

I literally couldn't believe the game thought it was "deep story" to insult my intelligence by implying the events of the game that just happened--that tells you there are infinite parallel universes--is dumb enough to insist it could erase all of them with something as simple and dumb as drowning one particular instance of Booker.

What a joke.

I would like this game. And the ultimate message would still be the same.

No, I was actually mad at how shitty their understanding of multiverse theory was.

They actually failed to properly explain something I fucking read about at15.

Granted, the main audience for that game was 6-8 year olds.

Bioshock Infinite looked pretty/had a solid enough aesthetic.

The rest was a pile of garbage though. Gameplay was alright, but felt like a serious step back from Bioshock 2, and Infinite's story was so goddamn dumb from every angle.

Wish they stuck to their guns with calling it Aeroshock or some shit so as to not tarnish the first two.

>Did he like it?
gave it a GOTY
>giving a fuck about what reviewers say
Bioshock 2's plot I put around the same level as the 1st Bioshock. IE barebones
>>
>>339220752
Assassin's Creed 2 and possibly Brotherhood and Revelations, Fallout: New Vegas. Not necessarily "philosophically" deep but fits the bill in every other way.
>>
>>339218248
no, that was the stupidest par.

>ooh, ooh, multiverse
>each femtosecond generates a new copy of universe, cuz reasons

that's purest of idiocies. There are two things:
1. Continuity of matter
2. Relativity (which is the reason for whole multiverse-terminator-style idiots to exist)
>>
>>339218248
the game was shit, and I was hyped for it
>>
>>339218248
No, by this time i just wanted the fucking game to end already.

The game started very strong but it just kept getting slightly worse and it lost me when it expected me to take the idea of the floating city beeing an actual menace and destroying a 1980's American city. Fucking Tom Cruise alone would have destroyed that thing.

By the time that stupid guitar part came up you could power a washing machine with my eyes rolling.
