How far down are you on this chart, /v/?
>"That weird guy"
>Fighting games
Stopped reading there.
Fighting games are casul nigger tier
Im "The Kid"
Gregor
The colors and connected lines are really pointless.
The Oldfag, but only because of Artificial Academy.
I barely play games any more. I just read gaming news and feel nostalgic about games I only enjoyed as a kid because I was a kid, like SMRPG.
I made it down to Elder because "lost game maker games."
There was a lot of strange, obscure shit on the old GMC forums that has been lost to time (yoyogames cleansed everything before 2010, which was about 6-7 years of random people making games).
See this is a stupid way to measure because i haven't played any daemon games but played pioneer games. Does that make me a pioneer?
what the hell does "Unreleased Shovelware" mean? unfinished builds of canceled wii games?
>>339214070
>grew up on morrowind and halo
>Now mostly play Doom Wads
Valiant and Back to saturn are the absolute tits
>>339214070
What the fuck is Murder Dog NES?
>>339217946
Why would it have to be wii?
I guess an example could be "Cheetahmen 2" (at least before AVGN made it famous). If you somehow got your hands on that ROM and played it, it would count.
>>339214070
>Marathon takes me into Gregor
Oh come on, I'm just a skinny sociable undergrad
I don't think the tiers are properly named or organized, but I'd be mid-weird guy.
>>339217345
Unreleased shovelware seems like a wide category.
>>339219323
I can only name a few unreleased games from that era, cheetamen 2 included, that have been leaked, while games canceled during the physical to digital transition period of the 2000's are/were far more frequently leaked, making them a more realistic "genre" of games, but it's still oddly specific
>>339220035
Yeah, I agree. I even think "lost game maker games" is a stretch for that category, but I'll take it (and it's still better than "unreleased shovelware")
>>339220565
REMEMBER ME?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g44Ww2bg2_E
>>339221642
I vaguely remember this, but I never touched it or anything made with it.
I was thinking in terms of the old games posted on the GMC (Game Maker Community), a forum devoted to Mark Overmars' "Game Maker." (now owned by YoYoGames).
There were gems like this:
http://www.gamemakergames.com/archive/johnnythe creator of the Johnny series passed away recently
>>339214070
I wish I didn't play murder dog
>>339222439

>Gregor
Only because of Arcane Kids and LSD
and probably weird foreign rm2k games
Does Owata count as a IWBTG fangame?
>>339214070
>Dead MUDs
I wish I could remember my log-in for the old MUD I haunted

Gregor reporting in
>>339214070
I guess i'm "the gamer" although i do like cod.
>>339223278
Yes, that would qualify, but likely for "unreleased shovelware"
>Murder Dog NES
>>339214070
Somewhere between the gamer and the weird guy.
>>339214070
now i'm curious what lab.serotoninphobia.info is
>>339225479
I am too; that site makes no sense to me whatsoever, and I can't find anyone who has written anything about it.
>>339224835

>>339214070
>no ranks for blobbers or roguelikes
Questionable lists
What are the bottom games?
>>339225768
You don't want to know, google it if you care that much.
>>339225838
Cataclysm: DDA is with Gregor. I think I'd put most classic roguelikes (e.g. ADOM, Nethack, Angband and variants) there.
Dwarf Fortress should probably be there, too, and not the level above.
>>339226051

>>339214070
Beyond it. There are too many games missing.
Old Telnet games such as TELOS and the like are strangely missing, despite belonging around Demon level. That said, I primarily identify with Weird Guy and Old Fag, with a lot of Gregor as well (StarSector, Platform Masters, LSD,)
>the old fag
This just proves how shitty the picture is. The whole point is to connect obscurity with how much a weirdo it makes you, not to categorize you by playing what was popular when you were young.
yes
This chart makes absolutely no god damn sense.
Cata DDA should probably be moved up one tier
>>339226913
Star Wars: The Old Republic
Welp, I guess I just go straight to the bottom
>>339228172
I agree. There are other roguelikes that might fit in that tier.
>>339214070
Gregor... I fucking love Cata DDA. I play EVE, IL2 and EYE too.
>>339228172
everybody plays that game here
everyone of these threads is filled with people saying they play it
>>339214070
How is Hitman edgy?
Also this is just a troll image to make people feel like casuals for playing popular AAA titles, which is a false dichotomy btw.
What are some patrician games?
>&&
Who are these people?
>>339230336
That list has a lot of good ones.
Also, programming games:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Core_War
It's a genre that recently intrigued me, and I really want to get into it.
>>339230589
What did he mean by this?
>>339229743
>Also this is just a troll image to make people feel like casuals for playing popular AAA titles
But almost every single AAA title is, by nature, casual garbage. They have to sell to the lowest common denominator, you know.
>>339226913
Why are there so many normal games in the "fringe games" category?
Fire Emblem has always been pretty popular, and most people I know have played the older Medal of Honors, Max Paynes, XCom, Far Cry 1, Witcher 2, Shadow of the Colossus, Deus Ex, etc.
And why are the obscure games less than obscure? Neptunia, Atelier, Crusader Kings, E.Y.E, Europa, 2hu, Dark Souls, Dwarf Fortress and I wanna be the guy are all more fringe than obscure: pretty well-known, but with specific fanbases.
This seems like a shitty list, my family.
Wavering on the line in between Weird guy and Oldfag, just probably on the above.
>>339230589
Where can I get in contact with these people?
>>339226913
That list has a pretty high threshold for "obscurity." I like the OP image better, though it still has flaws.
>>339230764
How do I get in touch with their family?
>active worlds above digital space traveler
c'mon OP
>>339230839
How do I know if they are safe?
My Grandma is a Gregor because of Marathon.
>>339230895
Did he have these people's consent?
>>339230983
Who is watching over these people?
>>339214070
Daemon.
>>339230839
fuck you creepy bastard
>>339229587
It's a fun game. Really not too difficult or complex, either. I know it's an overused buzzword, but holing up somewhere and studying skills, "cooking" food, and repairing your gear is pretty "comfy"
>>339231270
Not him, but I couldn't get into it. I like lots of roguelikes (especially Sil and ADOM), but maybe it was the setting for DDA that was putting me off.
I did like the creative character creation, though.
Someday, I might give it another go, as what you're describing does sound pretty nice.
>>339214070
Deepest I've gotten is "Gregor" with HellMOO and Cataclysm.
>>339231391
Honestly I don't even think of it as a roguelike. I think of it as, and play it as an open world rpg. I even started savescumming with my latest character. The amount of time you can invest into one character and the amount of exploration available lends itself well to a more casual play style than what most roguelikes demand
>>339214070

i dont want to do anything i swear, just push my cock so hard into the girl holding the stuffed animal's ass that it slips inside without the need of any lube. the rough anal walls sliding against my dry cock will ultimately be tainted by her fecal matter, however it is her that must beware for i shall feed her my seed. my white life will swim deep into her body plastering itself all over her vaginal walls.
she'll hate the feel of my seed. it'll itch and it'll bother her. she'll have no use for it, she must claw my seed out. her nails peel away pieces of her labia. her nails grate across her thigh skin so harshly that her skin curls up peeling straight off. violently she claws away at her cunt over and over, fresh flesh lying on the ground piling up. then it happens, as the skin is removed she feels something running out from inside her. it feels different than the blood pooling on the ground, the same blood im using to rub against my gums. she looks down and my seed slowly creeps out from her womb. she grabs it in her fist and squeezes it hard, she opens her palm and it webs out along her fingers. she places my seed into her mouth and swallows. this time she has to claw out at her neck and stomach to remove me. this time she dies.
im ok thank you for asking.

Where does Descent go? Same level as Quake/Doom, or one level below?
I feel like the full 3D, 6DoF of Descent was too much for a lot of people to handle, yet once mastered, it is one of the most spatially interesting games ever made.
>>339225479
>>339225610

I've been as deep as Daemon but play pretty much everything above it too. I play a ton of Zelda and it's my favorite franchise but I also sink hundreds of hours on Dwarf Fortress.
I'm also a decent human being with a good social life.
Fuck this chart everytime I see it
>>339235137
It seems like some sort of surreal HTML adventure game, where all the images are glitchy, and the text is just garbled nonsense.
What are /vr/'s cult classics? They never talk about true cult games - always the most popular shit.
I'm Gregor.

THE PLOT THICKENS
One of the fucking scariest experiences I've ever had in a game was when Nexialist teleported to me while I was exploring the Chateau.
There's a mirror in the pic related (right behind where the picture was taken), and I was looking into it. I turn away and look at the fireplace for a second and then turn back and Nexialist is right fucking there in the mirror. Motherfucker was using an avatar I've never seen before, too. I believe it was similar to the one in OP's pic, but it had wings and was pure black.

Maybe Burnout and Need for Speed but I doubt half of /v/ could complete a lap at spa francorchamps with zero assists on in Project Cars---let alone iRacing or rFactor.
I've been as deep as Daemon tier but I typically kick it around Oldfag depths.
Real fucking mobile
>>339214070
I'm a pioneer.
>>339230694
It's all going to be contingent on your definition of "Mainstream". If I gathered 50 college age (18-24 year old) people who may or may not playing vidya and polled them---I bet less than half would know E.Y.E., Dwarf Fortress and Crusader Kings. Even less would know the weeb shit like Neputnia.
>Didn't even fit into 'oldfag'
>Didn't fit into 'Gregor'

wut.
Marathon games aren't even obscure, they were pretty popular back in the day.
Barely sn oldfag.
