One day a giant black hole opens up in antartica. It slowly expands outwards. A team of scientests dressed up as doom guy are sent in to investigate. Once they're in there they find that it's a hellish wasteland populated by demons in which the enviroments represent mans various vices and follies. You then recruit demons and go dungeon crawling with them. You must choose between siding with a lawful god, chaotic demons, or murdering both for the sake of humanity.
8/10 jrpg.

You still have to grind for Macca. That's why I find Nocturne's Hard slightly easier than Normal, gotta grind 3 times as long to buy all the Magatama so I end up overleveled.

Digital Devil Saga is a good transition point for people are into tradition RPGs with its party system which doesn't include recruitable and fusable demons and being more story-based but III or IV are good if you want to dive right into the staple of the series which is the recruiting and fusing of demons.

Its definitely more for the retro crowd with its classic dungeon crawler like style. if you had to start with a DS Megaten I would rather recommend Devil Surviver but Strange Journey is a good choice
