What is it that makes the fanbase so... bad ?
I finished the game the other day, somehow avoiding all the hype / memes / discussions / whatever surrounding it. The game was great.
But now that I'm looking around, it's one of the most autistic and embarassing fanbase ever.
Shit happens, and unfortunately this had ties to Homestuck.
It never stood a chance.

No, that's the reason I wanted to play the game with knowing the less possible about it.
But I'm concerned about people who didn't play it and all their knowledge about it come from the fanbase. I don't think they'd want playing after that.
This is game is basically for everyone as it has literally no requirement in skill or anything really so basically even the most autistic individuals can play it, also ties to homestuck through its creator

I'm wondering what would cause this phenomenon, as it's not as common for other games. Even here on /vg/ it's really bad.
Each character is basically a "type" and people project themselves onto those types because they are not strong characters in themselves so they become fodder for things like fan canon and shipping.

actually these things are really blown out of proportion by the autistic fanbase. Only a small minority of a diversity cast of monster can be considered furry, and the lesbianism is just.. there, it's not slapped in your face like Gone Home or other blatant SJW games.
