The new features to it are not enough for me. Hardly any games make use of DX12, the Microsoft store is 95% mobile shit and then the ported Xbone games have shit optimization or dead communities. They also hid a bunch of features that were present in Windows 7 and work on Windows 10 like pretty much everything in customization. They butchered the personalize capabilities in it, even changing the font settings was a pain in the ass when.
Also the shitty Microsoft Office subscription service, the screenshotting of desktops and rumored scanning for pirated documents in the future.And the bare-bones metro UI that they're shoving into everything today is cancer. The forced updates and all the silly tricks you have to do to ACTUALLY disable them is also cancer. Same for the sie panel with them replacing libraries with "This PC." It's a shitty and arbitrary change that makes the quality of life when using the OS worse, and you have to actually edit the registry to remove some bits of it.
How do I know this? I have it dual-booted for future games, but I'm never going to use it as my main OS in its current state. Maybe in a decade or so when the actually make it seem like a completed OS and make games for it.
The only thing really like about Windows 10 was the convenient weather and news app that I could have pinned to my start menu. If here was a program like that for Windows 7, I'd use it.

The blowout is this: if the news says that a virus/hack/whatever is responsible for people losing their credit card information because of some hole in Windows, it doesn't fucking matter if it's true or not or even if it's the user's own fucking fault.
The moment the user actually loses their credit card information, thus verifying the bullshit on the news they might sue. And if enough of them get it into their brains to sue, REGARDLESS if Microsoft is actually to blame (and it is not because the users are retarded), there is a class-action coming their way.
So it's easier to pay some guy $100,000 to write up the code to put a bubble around the ignorant user to prevent them from getting a papercut just so you can avoid the massive class-action lawsuit because of the public's flagrant ignorance.

What backpedaling? Vista had the same kind of problems as XP, but fewer of them. It was genuinely better than XP if you weren't running it on a toaster with 1 GB of RAM. XP was only an upgrade if you were coming from 95/98/ME, but compared to 2000 it had an ugly fisher price UI and intentionally gimped security to run old software from before Windows had a concept of users. The only real improvement was its USB support.
