You set up matching blocks on the grid via sliding with the stylus. When you actually want to cash in the matching blocks, you simply tap a block in you set up row. In this way you can make multiple combos, in order to rack up your energy gauge.
The more your energy gauge is filled, the stronger your attacks will be. You attack simply be pressing the attack button, and when you're attacking you can prolong your attack and the damage dealt by scoring ore points on the grid.
