I don't necessarily agree with this attitude, but I would say that Naughty Dog is much better at the niche they're filling now than they were at cartoony platformers.
I've never really gotten the love for Crash and Jak besides CTR. I grew up with them too but if I wanted a Sony platformer I'd much rather play Spyro, Ratchet, Ape Escape or Tomba, and that's ignoring the competition from other publishers and consoles.
Not that I'm into Uncharted or The Last of Us either but at least I can say it's the style of those games that don't appeal to me instead of saying they're mediocre in a genre I actually like.

Well that is true, but it's beside the point. Ellie and Riley were friends in an overwhelmingly hostile world.
