Playing Doom 4 made me revisit the original Doom 1 and 2 and through that I was absolutely stoked that even to this day you're finding mappers creating amazing WADs for the game.

Red Alert 2 has a great community and many active mods.
Medieval 2 has a lot of people playing, especially the modding community.

There are still Heroes 3 maps/mods being made that are worth checking out. (Nothing will ever beat Tim Duncan's maps though)
