2) It has no way for you to communicate, meet, or trade with other people/friends

Usually when a game is delayed it says to me that the developers are incompetent douche bags and the game is going to be shit anyway. As a salesperson you should always undersell, not oversell. So you should overestimate the amount of time it will take to complete, so if you happen to complete it early your fans will be surprised as opposed to pissed off at you for a delay.
Also this happened with Mercs 2. They kept delaying the fucking thing and also kept taking features away which ultimately pissed off fans so now they are a bankrupt company.

To be fair, it'll probably have a little less content than Elite Dangerous has. Hopefully if enough people support it they'll make free content packs for it and do incremental upgrades that'll add more for users to do, but it's definitely going to be pretty sparse for content other than randomly generated stuff off the bat. There's a very real and more likely possibility that they support it very little or not at all in terms of extra content.
