ITT: Solid 7/10 games.
I miss moderately budgeted, competent and fun but not glamorous games like this. Now days it seems to be mostly mega budget titles or totally indie stuff.
Hard Reset was fun.
I loved Singularity
I enjoyed this, the end where you had unlimited time power was great
I kind of agree with you OP, it's either AAA game LIKE X WITH GUNS with shitty optimized engine and being about 10 hours long, or some pretentious indie 8bit.
Optionally, a fucking early access/kickstarter cashgrab.
This game and its expansion were fun. Lots of crazy shit you could pull off, including combos and supernatural weapons. Got a bit tedious towards the end of the main game, though. Went on a bit too long/
Get it if you haven't, it's $1 on GMG right now
>>339152087
most games by Raven and Monolith are like that
I miss AA games
>>339152930
That's a very narrow minded point of view you have there, I wouldnt talk seriously about games making generalizations like that.
>>339153162
and both companies were acquired by big companies and then pretty much died
>>339153138
How' Lost Company? I got that for free on GMG a while back.
>>339153138
It was that 2spooky game set in WW1?
I never finished it I think, got stuck in some part. Was fun though
>>339153138
this fucking game. took me a while to realize you have to KICK shit like a crazy madman to get through the levels
>>339153212
Give me some examples of middle ground then. Recent ones, not something from 2007
I would rate Singularity higher, maybe 8.5/10 or even a 9
7/10 games are some of the best games I've played. Risen, for example.
You shouldn't disregard 7/10 games.
>>339153321
not him, but do Shadow Warrior 2013 and Wolfenstein TNO count?
Maybe Dying Light, I'm not sure that game had AAA money behind it
I'm playing pic related right now and i'm having a blast.
Another solid 7/10 that I finished for the first time this year. The gameplay with the talisman was fucking great and should have been brought forward into future installments but it did suffer too from being generic in many aspects
>>339153254
It's good. Not as overly long as the base game and added new stuff.
>>339153256
Yes. Go back and play it
>>339153295
Going full MADMAN later in the game was satisfying.
Any modern Serious Sam game (HD/BFE).
This was the last game that really gave me that sense. Unambitious but solid driving game with an entertaining story.
>>339153138
Also Deadfall Adventures from the same developer.
>>339153542
I remember I played it back in the day and it got boring very quickly, I simply forgot about it completely until New Order came out.
rented and played the shit out of this game back in, I think, the 7th grade.
Also in the western vein, Call of Juraz: Gunslinger fits this mid-budget fps mold exactly. Can't recommend that game enough.
>mfw this game's time bending shit is better than Quantum Break
>>339153321
Tempest. Sins of a Solar Empire. Dark Souls II. Stronghold: Kingdoms. Shadow run: Returns and Dragon fall
All slightly better than average but not excellent, released withing the past 6 years and from a wide variety of genres other than shooter and fantasy.
There's 700,000+ games on steam alone. Making assumptions about any of their quality is inherently flawed.
>>339153723
Don't know if Talos also falls into that directory. Just like Sam, it was very budget, competent, not so fussy or pompous, yet it was very higly praised and one of the 2014 GOTY. It's not AAA or super popular, just like Croteam themselves.
>>339154596
I wouldn't consider Talos 7/10 unless you're not a fan of puzzle games. That games a dang 9/10 minimum.
10 dollars well spent.
I enjoyed dem water physics and climbing
What about this one? Haven't played it though, but it seems to be a mid-budget medium quality game.
>>339155115
This one was just plain awful.
>>339155304
The main problem of a game is a gray color palette.
By itself it's a pretty solid yet a bit repetitive shooter with some fun guns like that flamer uzi.
>>339155304
i had fun
Waste of franchise aside, it was pretty fun.
>>339155101
>not getting it from humble bundle for 1$
ayy
>>339152739
HARD RESET REDUX HYPE
Extremely atmospheric but flawed shooter
>>339153514
wolf is full blown aaa.
>>339155776
It's nice that they give a 85% off discount to those who already own the original game. But I'm concerned that there seems to be not so many changes made.
>>339152739
I already liked Hard Reset a lot but playing D44M I realised just how good the combat is in that game.
>>339155776
>they added quick dash and katana from shadow warrior
>>339153162
>Monolith
Everything they made after Condemned was garbage.
>>339155848
Optimization was really bad here.
The Uncharted series (at least 1&2 which are the only ones I played) fits in with these games.
Sonygger hype and staunch anti-cutscene purists be damned.
The Witcher 3
>>339152087
I think hyper light drifter is a solid 7/10
I loved this one, still play it sometimes.
This game was simply poor man's Painkiller (even from the same devs) and they managed to fuck up such a nice concept by linear design and boring gameplay, but it was still fun in some times.
Club Penguin Xtreme edition
>>339156451
God I wish this game was better. The environments are so cool in that industrial decay way but the enemy design gets so goofy past a certain point and it's the gunplay is very unsatisfying.giant killer chickens
>>339156934
Impressive ascent, agent.
