I'm glad I didn't buy this game.
But I still want it to succeed because its success would mean that big budget PC exclusive games are lucrative.

I expect the worst out of this game by this point, but at least I find solace in the fact that there are many games in my backlog anyways.

Whats that supposed to say? He can do with his money wtf he wants. You neckbeards act like he's supposed to live in a shack in the woods and put all the money into the game development.

Reminder that Mark Skelton just left CIG

I hope when this "game" goes tits up it'll take crowdfunding with it.

I know you're retarded but bear with me. people give money to fund the development of the game, therefore it should be used to develop the game. It's not the guy's money, it's the investors'. Using it for anything other than that is is straight up mishandling of funds

he can use the money how he pleases, but it is immoral and doesn't make him less of a conman
>>
>>339130383
Oh boy.

Learn how investment works. In the real business world an investor receives a stake in the business by giving them capital.

The money you retards gave him is his now, not yours. He can do whatever the fuck he wants with it. It's not immoral and it doesn't make him a conman, this wouldn't be happening if today's teenagers and young adults weren't complete fucking morons.
>>
I don't think Chris or anyone at CIG management is trying to scam anyone. They're just grossly incompetent and Chris' is making the classic western developer mistake of trying to pander to everyone.
>>
>>339130749
>>339131374
Regardless of the semantics you want to use, he was given funds in hopes they would be used to make a game. They are not being used to make a game.

You can use whatever legal jargon you wish, he is not doing what he got money to do.

Semantics aren't a good enough excuse.
>>
>>339131418
100,000,000 is a shit ton of money to deal with. If they didn't hire an outside firm to help them deal with the development they are obviously going to fuck it up.

Although I kind of believe they're just being retarded and blowing the money. Most games don't cost near that much outside of advertising budget, I don't see why this game would need it.
>>
>>339131546
Don't think anyone is excusing him, just a friendly remind that if you pay into this shit, this is what you should expect as a result.

There was a good reason they didn't get the money from real investors, they don't have a history of being able to manage money.

>>339128739
While I would definitely ask for a refund if I had backed you have to remember they also have other investors (real investors). Never ever confuse the term donator to investor, nor ever misuse the word invest (you don't "invest" when you buy a fucking videogame).

So you could easily make the case that the money doesn't really come from the kickstarter funds but from the investor's.

"At its core Star Citizen is a destination, not a one-off story. It's a complete universe where any number of adventures can take place, allowing players to decide their own game experience. Pick up jobs as a smuggler, pirate, merchant, bounty hunter, or enlist as a pilot, protecting the borders from outside threats. Chris Roberts has always wanted to create one cohesive universe that encompasses everything that made Wing Commander and Privateer / Freelancer special. A huge sandbox with a complex and deep lore allowing players to explore or play in whatever capacity they wish. That universe is Star Citizen."

That's from kickstarter page. In it's current state, it's a mockery of these goals.

only addicts and retards play the games you have mentioned
you gotta be a huge retard to play any game with microtransactions
the only goal is to milk you retards while making sure the game is unbalanced unless you pay

>>339135987

>I like being forced to 'play' (work) at set times and interverals so I can pay again for something I can't keep, even though I already paid real money for it

you don't even notice how retarded it is that you are paying to work?

normal game: play it because it's fun, get the full experience whenever they want
your shit: play it because you need to earn (work for) credits so you can rent shit, always only get a small part of the experience interrupted by long farming sessions (which you call playing, even though they are not, because the player only thinks about how many battles left until he can rent another piece of shit)
>>
>>339135956
the only reason not to buy the game at this point is because if you're against the principle of crowdfunding or dont like space, or dont have a gaming computer, or you dont wanna give money to someone who might not totally respect your wishes on how he should use it, which kinda goes back to the first reason

and thats just fine

but the game is well into being finished and its already pretty cool

i dont really have any expectations of the game, i didnt expect it to even get this far

It's too bad, they could have a lot more money but consolefags would rather not change and try to rationalize their fears of this away, because if this game achieves half its goals no one will want a console anymore

>>
>>339138148
true, but coupled with private boats, fabulous sliding doors and such, and assuming they've used the money to indulge in other ways that we don't know to raise alarm about, to me it's spelling out a bad mindset

it's like choosing to indulge yourself in some shit though you really should be crunching on through what you've set to do, all the while telling yourself you can just jump back into it at anytime until shirking that responsibility becomes a terrible habit, made worse with permissiveness and when you can afford it

that's the alarm, I think, though I too don't give a fuck about this game
>>
>>339138663
If it's within the budget of the promised goals, what's the problem? You realize that when people plan out a budget, not all of it is spent on things that directly relate to development, right? There are things like benefits, office accessories, gear, things like that. The reason is that, like I said, good developers are expensive.

It is pretty retarded what they're spending money on here though, like a custom fucking door, what the fuck.

Also this game has a ridiculous ammount of whales who have tons of money but give zero value to gameplay/theory/meta etc, so expect the forums to be flooded with asspain when the top 3% of good players take their crown on launch and are shreding $800 ships and gaming the game and none of the fanfiction stories apply as people go bunnyhopping and prone jumping through ships while hipfiring.

Take the salvage missions, it's nice that they decided you actually have to salvage a specific item from a specific crash now rather than just turning in any old randomly spawned shit but was it really necessary to have that crap where you just fly around in circles for a few minutes while the location marker randomly changes locations? he does do work, in fact, he's probably one of the few CEOs who actually does coding and shit on top of managing the project.

And in a few weeks its busted, missing parts, and doesn't work anymore due to employee abuse.

Honestly, I don't know why anyone ever bothered to grind to the big ships, they were always kind of crap. They are really only good for trading and mining, the most boring shit to do in the game.

Anacondas could be fairly easily defeated by vultures and now with the engineers update you are seeing couriers taking down cutters. The big ships are not behemoths, they are sitting ducks.

currently if you get into warp in the right direction you can get underwater in space, because they have not managed to disable the water physics plane in cryengine and are just constantly moving it below the player. You'd think they' have figured that out after several years of development.

The other day they had a bug where people would get crushed by the acceleration while going into warp. That's awesome in a way but that kinda shit shouldn't happen either. some people get killed by using doors

Even with the scope excuse they should have figured out basics long ago and they haven't

That's exactly what a CEO should not do. He should sort out his company's management problems.

Holy fuck, you people really are a cult. I didn't think anyone here was this stupid, but you folks take it to another level.

You're an idiot. People just want decent working conditions like good hours, sick/vacation time, medical/dental, retirement benefits, good HR, etc. Who the fuck puts luxury coffee makers on the top of their priority list?

Explain why so many employees have quit. We're talking several dozen and key figures in the dev cycle.

>Star Citizen is never going to be finished

I loved following this game for a long time. I don't think it's a scam but they're going to take so much time to get the basic game out there that it won't even be impressive by the time it's playable. The new Call of Duty looks like a better space game already.

Squadron 42 might be good but the release date keeps moving back every few months.

but desu I played the alpha release more than many full games I bought
