Nah. The scale is different. Daikatana was much longer in development, and blew like 20 or 30 million of Eidos' money. Entire divisions had to be fired to make up for it. He didn't just ruin his own reputation and job, but that of others.
But it is a similar event, just smaller. 4 million wasted, delays, joke of a game that is bound to flop. Now we have our own "Make you his bitch" ad. Sure, Inafune didn't sign off on this, but the ad is now widely known and has been seen 600,000 in just two days. Pretty much anyone who had an interest in this game has seen it.

Inafune claims he's the "co-creator" of Mega Man, despite having joined the MM1 team late in development. The series creator is actually Akira Kitamura, who also directed MM1 and MM2. Inafune just rides the coat tails of others.

It first used the Quake 1 engine. Romero saw the Quake 2 engine and panicked. So he scrapped the whole game and remade it to Q2 engine. The game was delayed for years and years. It was meant for a Christmas 1997 release, and didn't get out until 2000.

Hold up now, this has been a shitshow but he's still got talent as a character designer. He's the guy who did all the art for Breath of Fire I and II, for example. If anything, be pissed off that he went from making pic related to the lazy bullshit in MN9.

Inafune was head for the majority of the MM series. Except 1-3, but even there he had a leading role. He's a game dev with over 30 years of experience and turned Mega Man into the series we know and love. One mist step should not let his career get ruined. MN9-2 will be 20 times better than the first. This is just a new company, with a new IP, with a small budget game. Yes, 4 million is SMALL budget. It's nothing for video games.
But if so called "fans" strangle beck in his cradle before is fully able to stand for himself, they will be just shooting themselves in the foot. MN9 is the best hope for a series to replace Mega Man. Capcom hates the series, and won't revive it simply to spite Inafune. While there they wouldn't let him fufill his vision. That forced him to go solo.
Was Mm1 any good? Not at all. It's clunky, poorly made, ugly, terrible audio, etc. But do people remember that? Hell no. They rememer the superior sequels and what Inafune made later. The same will happen with MN9.
And remember Comcept is a new company, working on a new IP. it's not uncommon for there to be some misteps.
The core game is still there. It has the mega Man soul. Thats why I believe in Mighty Number 9, and Inafune's vision.

Possibly one of the many games to do retro challenge right and with that I mean enemies purposely hitting you as you jump, and you can miss jumps really easily. The entire game is a collection of all Nintendo hard things that no one really misses.
I honestly cannot get into it because I do not have the time for it, but if you have tons of time to kill, it is alright. It is really hard.

Like it or not Megaman fully belongs to Capcom and they are the rightful owners. What Inafune is doing is an insult to the Company that worked with him for many years, showing his complete lack of respect and appreciation. Capcom gave him a voice inside the company for many years, but when things get tough he quits? Fuck him. Fuck Inafune and anyone who defends him. We have no use for him anymore. The Megaman franchise needs to outlive him no matter what.
