When I first played through the series I was so fucking excited, it was all just gravy on the way to Shalebridge Motherfucking Cradle, and when I get there, what do I find? I don't mind adding the "hide from spoops" mechanic as long as there are other alternative ways of getting around obstacles. Alien Isolation did this in an okay way by having the flamethrower deter the ayy for a while, and having a giant toolbox full of shit you could use to make it wander off.
Outlast was shit though. I'll only forgive Amnesia/Penumbra from doing it because they were kind of the first to try it. Everyone desperately copying them afterwards were idiots.

I forget a lot of the game's details. But Laura is just a normal kid who met Mary. She's only on the first level of Silent Hill. It's just an empty town and she only sees other people like James.
I forget why, but she has a lot of hostility towards James because she thinks he doesn't love Mary.
