They started development before Overwatch. By the time OW was announced Battleborn was almost finished, they had no choice but to release it or lose a shit ton of money.
DESU Battleborn is an entirely different Game more like a MOBA, but the designs arent as good, and the UI is fucking horrible. The Game itself isn't that bad but OW is much better
