But I'm questioning this influx of japanese game, recently. Not that I'm complaining, but, were they not afraid of the PC market ?

No the steam and vita release are simultaneous. Honestly I'd rather have see simultaneous releases so people don't feel like they wasted money on a vita version if they wanted to play on pc

Probably the cost of porting dropped significantly. On new hardware you are not limited so much you have to jump some insane hoops to make game running, which leads to easier porting process (less "What the actual fuck" moments), which in turn results in cheap porting price.
This along with rise of Steam and other digital marketplaces made it possible for developers to publish their games effortlessly (both pro and con, since most of those games are digital only, and to buy collector editions you either has to acknowledge your console game will collect dust, or to have said platforms and like certain games so much you are ready to pay twice for them).
Without asshole publishers on their tail and with ability to port for cheap/almost free (if devs do work themselves), it becomes clear it's BAD decision not to port your games - for almost no work and investments you get normal/good bucks.If only there were time to play all those games, now.
