What's the point of this character?
>runs around the map like an angry chicken throwing his stars

He's bad against tanks but excellent against soft targets. Hanzo, Widowmaker, and Bastion all have tons of trouble with Genji. A good Genji can also counter McCree pretty well. However, if you aren't playing a team with a lot of those characters, he won't be that useful.

I had one game when we were up against a good Genji and the fucker was hanging around in our back line picking most characters after they respawn and run to the frontline alone.
I was playing Torbjorn and he essentially nullified my usability since I was unable to set up. He kept out Mercy at spawn for some minutes too.
When I'm on fire I usually have the most eliminations and damage as him. When used correctly he is devastating.
But one thing that shuts him off is a team that sticks together. He really struggles getting off kills against more than one opponent. But he's ideal to kill off campers.

Thing is, her Counters, she can just blink away from your Line of Sight meaning she can just zip around you getting free ult charge. Mei and Winston are her main "counters" but with mei when she starts gets slowed she can just Blink and all your progress of freezing her is gone. Winston kinda has the same problem expect her doesn't do a lot of damage and a Lucio can just passive heal the damage real easy. Symmtra isn't even worth mentioning

That's an oversimplification. Orb of discord isn't the only thing Zenyatta can do and it allows you to effectively "DPS" two targets at once provided your team is splitting their focus. You can discord someone while swapping your healing orb to someone else and doing damage to a second target.
Even if you're terrible you can toss a discord orb on someone you can't hit effectively and let someone else kill them quicker.
Your point would be 100% valid if not for the fact that Zenyatta can heal. Sometimes killing a target isn't as useful as keeping a teammate alive.

Basically, even if you're soft and squishy you should get your ass onto the fucking point and delay things by a few seconds. Hell, I've saved a match or two by switching to DVA and then boosting my ass all the way to the point. She's tanky enough to survive for a bit and her human form has to be killed too. It's a damn great way to stall for time.

I'm not one of those Mercy players who are unaware of their surroundings or sticks to pocket healing one person so I get dicked as soon as they die or we get separated.
Also, a similar thing happened in another game, but the Mei switched to a Reaper and spent all game hunting me. I could sense the anger in him.

Honestly, I like Mercy more than the Medic. She's fairly competent in a firefight if push comes to shove and that damage boost beam is super useful. I also like her ability to glide to team mates, although I wish you didn't need direct line of sight. It gets kinda terrible when you can't reach someone because a bit of tile is blocking you from line of sight or something.
I wonder if her damage boost stacks? Like, if you got 4 Mercys boosting a Bastion and a Reinhardt using his barrier do you have a near unstoppable defense team?

Tracer is a bad idea, since she'll probably teleport and leave you behind. Genji has a similar problem, although boosted shurikens probably do a lot of damage.
Reinhardt is pretty strong too, so a buff can make things easier for him. Firestrikes can become instant kills and hammers will kill in 2 swings instead of 3.

It's not so much she's bad so much as she's hard to use right.
She's a tank, in the sense that she has a lot of HP and has a nifty shield, but she can't "tank" in the same way that Reinhardt or even Roadhog can. She isn't there to be a damage sponge. She's there to boost around until she's in the enemy's backlines and confuse the fuck out of them by attacking from behind before she boosts away while laughing. Her shield basically exists to make sure she doesn't die while approaching.
Don't even focus on getting kills as DVA, just swoop in and distract everyone in your hot pink robot before flying off into the distance. DVA exists to make sure people stop going for the objective and start playing tag with her instead.

I'd be fine without seeing HP even tho it has a purpose. I would have preferred some visual thing like blood decals in TF2 or blood textures covering more of the model as they go low in Chivalry. In any case, people subconsciously change their behavior when squishy. They stand in the back, roam for HP or hide behind cover/players. Overall they get more defensive which is a sign you can use as a class going for squishy kills, without any bars or visual effects. Furthermore, the other way around you can acknowledge your behavior and pretend to be more aggressive to fool people into thinking there are no easy kills in the group at the time.
Most people are playing him wrong. Going out of their way to flank and sneak up on straggling enemies when he is actually much better in the middle of a fight where he often goes unnoticed anyway.
Using the shuriken + shift + melee combo ramps up damage insanely fast and being in a large fight rather than small skirmishes allows you to back to back shift much more often.

I hope you don't actually mean in the thick of things but near the edge of a team fight throwing stars. The reset on swift strike is for you to approach the enemy from an odd angle swift strike their weakened healer/valuable target, reflect kill they have a bastion or something with similar firepower, then swift strike away and get healthpacks. A stray bullet can kill him and he really should not be in the middle of anything for longer than 2 seconds unless he's being heavily supported: zarya's shield, mercy heall/buff with dragonblade, etc.

His shurikens do good damage, but they're very hard to aim and he's squishy.
He's basically a combo between spy and scout, minus the cloak. Get behind enemy lines and harass/fuck up the squishies.
When I play Genji, my main goal is to tenderly love the enemy mercy, and bully widowmakers/Hanzos/Bastions.
If I jump into the enemy team's push and take the mercy/Lucio out, I don't care if I die. If the support's dead, it's mission accomplished.

That's the thing. Mercy is an active support in the buff she provides; she has to be straight up tethered to someone to provide healing or damage, and she can only help one person at a time. Yes, you can just swap who you're healing, but you can get baited out. And since she's tethered by her beam, she can't provide additional damage with her pistol unless something's fucked up. In addition, her mobility is pathetic if there isn't a teammate in the right place for her to jump to.
Luccio can heal everyone on the team at the same time. Or speed up everyone on the team at the same time. This means he can help the entire team get to a point faster than the enemy team, or he can run back to shuttle slow assholes from the spawn to the front line. And since it's a passive aura, he can be improving the entire teams mobility or healing the entire team while moving around, doing some extra damage (though not as much as Zenyatta), and much more importantly, disrupt the enemy team by skating around them and pushing them into pits, out of formation, etc. And when he Pumps Up either aura? For a few seconds he's healing EVERYONE at mercy-tier healing speeds.
Mercy and Luccio are the two only actual supports; Zenyatta is just a damage dealer who needs to be paired with someone, and Symmetra is a defense character who got shoved into support to make the category look less anemic.

Oh ya I just tried out Lucio for the first time last night, hes pretty damn fun.
He's pretty good at countering lots of things. Any time my teams having trouble with a widowmaker, i'll pick up genji and ruin her life for a bit until she changes char.
He's also good at reflecting a lot of ults. I've killed tonnes of mccree's with his own high noons.
Genji is a nightmare to deal with on that king of the hill map at the broken temples. So many buildings he can spiderclimb over or doorways to duck into

I mostly play Mercy but I've been trying out Lucio and the amount of damage healed is often pretty similar. It doesn't feel like it though because you're not actively doing it so it's kinda odd.
I tend to choose based on the map and whether we're attacking or defending. There are some maps where the point is just too enclosed to play Mercy because you die in seconds but Lucio can happily zip about shooting his fart gun and wubs at people while providing healing. Lucio also helps the whole team run to points faster and generally get back in the game faster.
Mercy can be really helpful with the clutch revives and shit though, saving people from the jaws of death, boosting a bastion to LMB PotG etc. I mainly play her on open maps where we're on defense.

I'm a Genji main. His point is to kill the backline and distract people. He also is an excellent poker.Widespread damage or long range dmg. You need to know the maps to play him effectively. His ult is the hardest to use in the game. You need good timing and the perfect moment to join a teamfight.
He also is an excellent counter to Bastion and projectile spamming.

If you're fighting reinhardt you can flank him and pull him or his teammates from behind the shield, or if he's alone you can bait him into pinning you. You can hook reinhardts while they're flying towards you and it cancels the attack.
With some practice you can take down Dvas mech and hook her while she jumps out. You can also hook the self destructing mech and pull it away from your team in dire circumstances.
In my experience Zarya is the only tank that really shits on roadhog.

I like him as an annoying rushdown player with his dash and melees, he's pretty much a sniper's worst nightmare. That being said, he really could use one more bit of umph to make him more viable all around instead of situational. Either shorten the cooldown on his dash, let him stack a few of them like Tracer's blink, or maybe even give him a "death from above" kind of diving attack when doing a melee in the air. Just something else to make him more useful as a starting character and not just a counter.

to do damage on him, you need to master his combos and animation canceling
for starters: right click > melee > dash can all be done at the same time almost instantly for 164 damage. so you can kill even tracers by plucking her health down a bit and bursting her that way.

Flank and spank, tracer is better at run and gun, flanks, and general annoyance but genji is better at quiet assassinations and ambushes. Go in, pick their supports off, take their defense characters out, then run after you aggro their tank and attackers.
He takes a lot more finesse than most characters, and hes picked a lot because of naruto fags and rules of nature cyber ninja fags. But a good genji is the bane of support and defense characters.
