Yesterday there was a thread about stealing from redbox.

People were saying you can go there rent a game go home scan/print a copy of the label put it in the case and return it. Then you get a free game.

Opinions?
>>
I personally think if you do this you are a piece of shit and will get caught eventually.
>>
Are you asking about how to use a printer, or whether people agree with nigger tactics?
>>
>>338976665
>whether people agree with nigger tactics?
this and why they think its smart and why they wont get caught.
>>
>>338976665
>>338976820
Because /v/ is literally infested with Sonyggers
>>
>>338976421
You will get caught when the next renter reports this shit and they who the faggot nigger renter before him (you)
>>
Fuck off Jamal
>>
They will realize you did it and just charge your account 60 bucks.
>>
>>338977160
>You will get caught when the next renter reports this shit
Not necessarily, because what if the previous person who rented it just returned it without reporting it? and it was actually the person before him who did it.
>>
>>338977060
Why don't you leave
>>
>>338977160
>make fake copy
>return it
>report it so that previous renter gets charged the $60
it's not rocket surgery
>>
>>338977201
That's it? fuck I should just do this whenever I feel like buying a game. Sometimes I'll get lucky and get the game for free.
>>
>>338977649
i guess you could do that like once.

Because fourrr chan is on PC.
>>

Yeah, you can do this a grand total of once before you get caught.

Hardly free games.

Why not just use a prepaid visa card?
>>
Just be sure to use a prepaid card.

Working in retail taught me that most thieves aren't very fucking bright.

>obviously lifting shit when a worker is near you
>act surprised when caught
>trying to walk out of door with a huge plastic sack of stolen cds, dvds and security alarms beeping
>"UH I PAID FOR THESE"
>lol enjoy the cops that are already here bro
>woman walks up to me after grabbing a new dvd box set off of a shelf
>there's still shrinkwrap and a fucking security spider wrap around it, she just scraped off the tag
>"UH I BOUGHT DIS AND IT DONT WORK. THEY DIDN'T TAKE THIS SHIT OFF EITHER."

It was entertaining at least.
>>
Might as well paint yourself black and wear chains and say "yo my dog" etc
>>
>>338981146
At least that level of desperation is entertaining.
>>
>>338981146
I got stealing nude girl cards from a sex shot and I had the money to pay for it and my gf with me. The shop owners ran out the door and chased after me. Luckily I gave the shit back and they didn't call the cops. It was the most embarrassing thing I've ever done. I haven't stolen since. Stealing becomes an addiction and you end up doing it for no reason because you think you can always get away with it. Its really fucking retarded tho.

Worse than piratefags, objectively.

I was at a movie theater during a thunderstorm and the power went out, so they were handing out rainchecks. Well my friend and I just got ours and as we walk out, the manager asks if we needed one. I said no because we didn't. My friend looks at me and just says, "Duuuude." I asked him if he was so nigger poor that he needed to scam a theater doing the right thing by even handing out rainchecks out of a $4.75 movie ticket.

Some people just can't get past that animalistic, "I need everything I can possibly get, whether I need it or it fucks someone else," mentality.
>>
>>338981146
I worked in retail for a long time, used to get shit like this as well as:
>"I want to return this iPod because it has no memory" - Because it was 4GB, they thought it would magically hold their entire itunes library
>"This Xbox 360 game won't work in my Xbox One" - Literally kek'd in their face
>"My 360 scratched this disc" - You know the disc burns /v/? Gave them Microsoft's contact info and told them not my problem
>Busted someone trying to nick a display TV that was Kensington locked to the display stand, tried to rub it off saying they wanted to see the back of it
>People actually steal empty display cases thinking they have the disc inside them
Not theft related, but I fucking loved it when people kicked up because I would refuse to serve them shit like GTA because I know it's for their kids.

Kek, I knew someone who swapped out a few of his disc-burned/scratched games with Gamefly and GameStop. No issues with Gamestop (since that's where most of the scratched games came from since he was a dumbass and never tested them) and Gamefly only busted 'em once with a disk burnt BF3, but they let it slide.

I'll give him the scratched games, but all the disk burned ones were his fault.

Still, it's hard to judge because

Don't steal from friends. That's way worse.

I worked at a local new/used game/dvd/music shop. It was large enough that people obviously thought thievery would fly but I was constantly watching everyone.

Tgis is more me beinv a dick but I was surprised I'd get away with some of this stuff. Did this when I was getting burned out/right before quitting. The boss loved me though since I had the most sales every week and kept busting people.

>customer trades in a stack of games while it's busy as fuck
>coworker doesn't pull them from the front yet and I watch as a guy grabs half the stack walks around and then tries to 'trade it in'
>go up to help him and when he hands them to me "Oh, I was wondering where these went." and put them behind me
>guy demands I give them back
>"Give you back stolen merch? You're dumb. Get the fuck out of my store." while smiling
>dude flies out of the front door
>hungover in back room eating lunch, have security feed right by me
>see guy stuff games in pocket
>literally waltz out of back room eating pizza and casually stand by the guy
>don't break eye contact while eating pizza and just start tapping my pocket
>guy gets nervous
>food in my mouth
>"Alarms will go off."
>see him slowly go and put the 360 games back

I had some crackhead lady offer me a bj if I'd take $50 off a new system she was trying to buy. I told her I suddenly felt like I was gay and she got mad. People are funny.

Top kek my friend. Do you know how much that would cost? Worst that happen is that they charge your card. Which they won't because there's plausible deniability. You could literally just say it was like that when you rented it so you just brought it back instead of bothering. You fuckers are so naive. I built a massive ps3 collection doing this shit. As a britbong, allow me to clarify. Obviously you can't know if an adult comes in to buy an 18 game for their 8 year old kid. However, if the kid is right there with them at the counter shouting DADDY I WANT TO PLAY THE GRAND THEFT AUTO HURRY UP AND BUY IT ME, then it's pretty obviously illegal

>it's just when I can get a criminal record and fuck my career prospects up for serving some cocky little shit because his dad's with him

But the thing is, you are selling the game to the father and after that it's out of your hands. If he gives the game to his kid then he should suffer the consequences not you. It's just so stupid it's literally unbelievable.

Use an anon search tool and search "local Redbox" using tor and you'll be fine for petty theft. Use a balaclava and some second hand clothes which you will burn properly.
The problem is hiding your car in a spot that has no cameras, but with enough parking traffic at night that you have plausible deniability when you finally drive to that area. Perhaps a friends house.

Alternatively you can just walk with a bag back home if yoiu live in a shit area with no cameras.

Each time you appear on camera near the crime scene they WILL track and follow your movements like the movies, but out will take them weeks for the warrants if they can be arsed.

Do not steal in places like UK cities however, too many cameras, not worth it.

Then again I am a paranoid government abidimg rule cuck, so don't mind me.

I pay $570 for rent, no worries about property tax, mortgage insurance (renters insurance is like 10$ a month) nor upkeep/maintenance. $400 in investments a month x 12 months = $4800 a year + give or take 5% ROI. In 5 years I could net ~$28,000 which is a lot more than a house would return in 5 years (depending on market/location).

95% of thefts aren't caught.

It's the ones that take the risk multiple times that do.

I did it once or twice taking hotwheels cars from Woolworths as a VERY small child after taking off the packaging, I don't regret it, but I don't think I'd ever do it again due to the sheer risk and my current ethics.

My brother however was caught stealing cheap food from the local superstore, despite being able to afford them when he was about 14 and got barred for a couple years but that's all that came from it.

yes you are correct hotels do have APs all around the hotel and they are all connected to a server and that server is managed by the guest network. The guest network does not work for the ISP. All the website will see is an IP address of the person using the site. So if the FBI wants to GO AFTER SOMEBODY for having a discussion about Crime. They will have to send an investigator to the ISP. The ISP will tell them the guest internet provider controls the internal network. The investigator will have to get with the guest internet people. The guest internet people will have to pull up logs IF THEY have logs and they will see at most the internal IP address I used and the host name of my computer. Thats it and by then I will be in another state. So its not fucking worth it. People pirate movies and games all the time on guest internet and THEY CANT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT AT ALL.

Somebody please debate me I'm loving this.

I literally work for hotels and guest internets. Part of my job is to handle DMCA complaints that are sent in from the ISP about guests pirating shit. The only info we get is the offending Public IP and the title of what was pirated. I call up the guest internet provider and 10/10 times they can't do shit. You guys watch too much csi if you think they can just magically know who you are just because of a public IP.
I'm fuckin serious call up eleven wireless right now and try to make a complaint about pirating, tell them you work for an aloft hotel or something. do it now.
>>
>>338991102
My point has already been proven, if you want to commit theft go ahead but you will eventually be caught. No one even brought up stenography until I said something about it which just proves that the people in this thread weren't thinking about it or didn't know about it period. That's just one method of tracking, people also forget that there are cameras at redbox locations but yes I know that doesn't matter.
>>
>>338990903
I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean by "guest internet". Do you mean the guest network SSID? Also, if you're running a hotel, why wouldn't you keep logs of internet access? It's only the smart thing to do. But yeah, you're right. The most they will see is your computer's hostname and there isn't much to get out of that. Unless maybe you were dumb enough to do everything on HTTP, in which case every letter you typed was sent across the net in cleartext.

My networking knowledge is rudimentary at best and I do all my computing under the assumption that all machines track my every move.

>>
>>338991410
https doesn't ensure a safe connection, this is a common misconception. an encrypted connection can help but it's usually the first step in a myriad of steps to ensuring anonymity for someone doing something highly illegal with a public connection. honestly they are better off using a public connection remotely if they were to do something like that, but like always you leave crumbs behind everytime you do something and eventually it is possible to be tracked one way or another.
>>
>>338991328
I just did and ive got names and addresses for the culprits. Im not sure why but youre chatting shit anon.
>>
>>338991119
My original point is that tracking a printer is so unbelievably time and resource-consuming that no police department in their right minds would devote any attention to this wild goose chase, especially for small scale stuff.
It's so easy to completely cover the tracks of any counterfeiting crime. That's exactly why counterfeiting is fought by proofing the object that criminal counterfeit and not by making the means with which they do it harder to acquire.
>>
>>338991590
Jesus christ I forgot about that guy. Man, that was some cringy shit.
>>
>>338991579
Conspiring? Where did you get that idea anon?

No but seriously, if discussing criminal methods was truly an illigal act that was acted upon by police then every police officer and theft prevention service company would be arrested.

What you have to do is prove intent. This whole board is larping and you can't prove intent, so it's all meaningless anyway.

But then, I suppose, thieves would just replace the real discs with cheap blank CDs in addition to the paper cut-out of the barcode. That big-ass fire hose can sink the small boat by filling it with water if the pirates don't fuck off quick, and it's not like those guns are going to sink such a large ship or harm any of the people on board who were obviously smart enough to hide when the pirates were still hundreds of meters away.
