I normally dislike playing humans in almost any setting, but not in Warcraft because they are just that cool. I've loved them since I played the WC2 demo on one of those discs that came with pc gaming magazines. The heroic music and badass unit quotes really were something else.

For the Alliance, you just wake up on the deck of the Skyfire parked in the harbor. Genn has you go to Varian's funeral along with Lorna Crowley and I forget who else.
My main thing is, I need to see a body. We see the caskets for both of them, but for now we don't actually see them die. It would just feel a bit abrupt for Varian to suddenly die at the Broken Shore after they hype him up in the opening cinematic.

It's fitting for the time, tough, as orc weaponry was pretty primitive-looking back then. Humans were into some crazy ornamentation on their stuff, while orc smithing followed the "simple and easy to make lots of, but really fucking effective" approach. You could see that on the upgrade icons in WC2. They go from wood to iron to black iron, and they don't get any more elegant.

I like the horde better from a design perspective. There's something well drawn about having the undead, the beautiful elves, and the orcs working together in a sort of ramshackle culture.
But I play alliance because that's where all the sluts are. And sluts are the most valuable currency an online game can have.

When I was a kid - I went with horde ( as a my first choice ever without thinking too much ) then continued with horde because I was indoctrinated to believe alliance is gay and immature.
Played so for years until a group of friends managed to persuade me into trying alliance - and I went with human ( the race which whole horde called gay and said it has a gay walk and gay everything ).
I actually enjoyed alliance but all cosmetics and story aside - community was actually 10 times better and I actually started to do and learn proper pvp, went very high in arena ladders - also played on a realm with some of the best pvp players ( back then ).
... this all was available for Europe.
From what I've read on 4chan, it seems like in USA it's the only way around, alliance is immature and for kiddies and horde is the normal faction.

Valve earns all of its income from Steam transactions, Blizzard does the same from the multiple micro-transactions in their games, both p2p and f2p.
