People see the healing being applied to them by you. As Lucio it's just a constant effect that's always going on.
Also because of that, Lucio will do a lot of 'pointless' healing. Sure he healed five members for 30 health each but it might not be enough to prevent death since it's so small. Meanwhile a Mercy providing 100 healing to one person could easily prevent a death.
I like Overwatch because it's light enough to play for hours on end which keeps my crippling depression at bay without frustrating me too badly

Same here I already knew how good Zarya is but winston was pure luck during the hero mode in the beta and I saw how fast he took out heroes with under 250hp. He can harass and cap points kill weak and annoying to hit heroes and he can jump out just as fast and with his shield as extra insurance it makes everything work together so well.

I don't get why people don't just go Lucio if they need a Healer, he's a great character and you can play him aggressively and just switch to heal when low/near allies. PSA..Not sure if Kill Feed is on by default or not, but it wasn't in beta. If it's off, go into gameplay and switch it on. It helps so much, moreso than the kill cam. I honestly think some of my teammates don't have it on because they don't react to teammates dying near them or when an enemy ult wipes half the team they run right into the kill zone instead of holding off and regrouping.
