You get EXP bonus if you win.
And a team with a non-retarded composition is more likely to win.
But none of this matters, because you can't force people to play someone they don't want to play. If there's a player on the team who plays a support hero occasionally, they will likely do so, if they see that they can't play their main and win in this team.
On the other hand, if you make bonuses for playing support too strong, you'll just get teams full of support players, who just farm exp/crates.

Usually when I use him I stay near cover so if I have to face an enemy, I can discord them, pop behind it, charge up shots, then while my orb is still telling me where they are, I pop out and hit them in the head with the charged shots. It isn't hard, but you have to be quick enough to hit them before the orb comes back to you since they aren't in your line of sight.

In most games I can think of, the healer can keep itself alive more than well enough on their own. The real issue is when they get focused down by the entire enemy team at once, but then anyone would die really.
Healers generally have at least one of:

I found zenyatta works well with any of the other supports bar mercy, because she can usually deal with an entire team of healing by herself. Lucio doesn't really need help, but it can work well with the right team since the orb and his aura stack
symmetra/zenyatta is my favorite, especially if you have a team with a lot of shields/roamers since it supports them well. I do think zenyatta needs some kind of buff since his orbs aren't nearly as useful with the LoS change but he's still my favorite support

For one, the scientific explanation doesn't sate the other unknown, the "what happens after we die?" question. All you know is existing, it's terrifying to think of not existing anymore in any way. Explaining our origin as the creation of a perfect being, who gave us an eternal soul that continues to exist after physical death, is comforting, you don't have to think about not existing anymore. It also makes us feel special, especially in Abrahamic traditions where we're told that we're God's FAVORITE creation, and to those people it gives their life PURPOSE.
Omnics were created by humans, they know the entire history of their race. They know they are nothing but hardware and software, their memory can be erased, their software deleted, their power supply shut off, and they just won't exist anymore. There's no mystery of how they got there or where they go when they "die"
They also know their direct purpose in "life" to serve humans.
I don't know what kind of logic leads them to spirituality in that framework.

Why is Symetra considered a support? She's a pretty great builder, arguably even better than Tjorn, but she doesn't support at all! Her only means of healing is by giving people 20 shields. Tjorn gives 50 armor, that's more supportive. Soldier 76 actually lets you heal every 8 seconds, that's more supportive too.

If you're good with your boosts and ult Lucio is way better than Mercy for pubs because you can heal 5 people at once adn have a pseudo full heal with the shield.
Of course you can't do shit like revive an entire team that got memed by Reaper but you get to fly around on the walls and push people like an asshole.

Mercy's pisol should actually be straight up better than D'va's.
Mercy's pistol do 100DPS and holds 400 damaga in a mag.
D'va's does 93.24DPS and holds 280 damaga in a mag. Also Mercy's got 1 sec reload instead of D.va's 2 sec.
A thing to consider is D.va's gun got 30% higher rate of fire, so it's slight easier to hit with (?), but she needs to reload a lot more often, also it don't affect DPS. Mercy however usually needs to switch to the gun, so unless you are familiar with it, D'va will seem better, but is actually just straight up worse.

Mercy can instantly fly to anyone in her line of sight with very little cooldown. Lucio is meant to be on the front lines, his buffs are based on close line of sight, and he's extremely mobile. Zenyatta can put out large amounts of damage with Discord and his attacks, and Harmony can be flung huge lengths with the only stipulation that Zenyatta stays alive to pump out health. The Supports in Overwatch are designed to give their players no trouble in getting health and buffs/debuff where they need to be.
And yet you think everyone else is at fault because you want to sit back and be a glorified health pack doing half the job you need to. Eat a dick OP.

Using more buff heroes that flat out can't be killed without multiple shots. The amount of time she's going to have to spend to take you all out means that someone is going to get up in her business, which means she'll at least be uprooted if not killed.
For a hard counter, I'd say D.Va due to her jets, Defense Matrix, and Eject. She can really get up in there and push her out, sometimes literally.

Stay back and heal your reinharts, dwarfs, and POTG bots. The debuff has a nice range too, use it alot, and if you have a mic let people know who has the debuff and use the charged attack, i takes about 4 seconds to fully charge. pop ult in cap points or when pushing. dont wast it to escape when your getting killed.

This, Winston is technically a tank but he plays surprisingly well like Tracer or Reaper, a hero with good mobility who acts as a harasser/ambusher.
Against Widow in particular he's a really good ambusher since he has enough health to laugh off her poison/machine gun and a jump to follow her when she grapples away.

No man, Winston is a really hard counter. One match Implayed as widowmaker for funsies a Winston had me shut down the entire game. It doesn't help that the match was a shutout, but that Winston never let me get a shot off or get away, and I'm a well above average sniper player.
