I'd argue Red/Blue and Explorers only have a handful of good tracks. Gates has almost none, and Super's entire soundtrack is almost perfect (in my opinion). Even the tracks from the older games were made better with remixed versions. For example:

Still, I can't help but ask: What about the newer mechanics bothered you? Being able to push enemies away to get into a better position for a fight was a nice tradeoff for the generally increased difficulty. Having gameplay shifting more importance on item usage made preparation before dungeons more important and increased the strategy element of the game.

I hate and love Treasure so much. When their difficulty says Hard/Expert, they really mean it. On top of them doing more damage, the enemies have new patters and attack faster as well. God Bless.
