I don't see why people like this game so much. The skill ceiling to improve with alot of the cast is so low since more then half of them are designed to be pretty much mastered out of box. Tracer/Genji/WidowMaker/Hanzo seem like the only characters with mobility that has depth so players using them can get better and better individually.

That's lazy. It works elsewhere, so they took it for themselves. But Blizzard doesn't had much imagination for the classes. They say that ulterior characters will be free, but you can expect either very few other characters or several clones, played more or less the same way with a different pace/damage output.
Overwatch has excellent art direction, is technically sound, excellent match making, good customization options without affecting gameplay, good social support so it's easy to play with your frien... oh yeah you don't have any, and smooth gameplay that is reasonably dynamic.
Sure the balance is a bit off at the moment but you really can't judge balance till a few months in once everyone has had time to figure out how the game really works. It has its flaws as does every game but it really is a solid AAA release for $40.

I have more than 400 hours on TF2 and I can tell when a class feel similar to TF2. And the case is, that most classes in Overwatch feel like mixes of what TF2 did.
The real problem and why I don't see Overwatch lasting is not that it is similar to TF2, but that the gameplay has less subtlety. You have to play with the bow of the sniper to know the right time to fire an arrow and adjust your aim a bit higher than directly on your target and guess where your target will be to get a satisfying headshot on a moving target. Hanzo's arrows are almost too fast which makes it hard to miss your target.
The "easy to play, hard to master" factor is way stronger in TF2 than in Overwatch and that's why it gets boring way faster.
It's pretty fun.
Don't see it getting a hardcore competitive thing like blizzard wants, but it's fun.

Yeah that's not true at all. You mention "exceptions" that can get away with it because of their "legacy" except their legacy is in the exact same boat they are multiplayer only and always have been. DotA didn't have a legacy to fall back on someone just made a mod and people loved it same as counter-strike and other games.
If people want multiplayer then they play multiplayer the only people who only look to the multiplayer as a secondary to the single players are the casuals.

TF2 to my best memory had 9 playable people, and while for its tike tf2 was a good game for some, to me it was a overly simplistic game, and the fact there was so many weapons that fucked the balance, like that sword the demo carries.
And having only 9 meant lack of playstyles
Scout =Go fast
Soldier = rocket man
Heavy = Trash tier headshot practice
Engi = turrets, otherwise useless
Medic = the only good one to use
Demo = RNG sword lmao
Sniper = always 3 per team and useless
Spy = Countered by just shooting or keeping a headcount
Pyro = ez mode
Overwatch has like 20 heroes and while a couple buffs and nerfs need adding, the game is 10x as fun due to the many playstyles and counters.

I play Overwatch and never played TF2. But to be honest, TF2 never looked appealing. Not even talking about the waifu here, just looking at video onlines give me a 'meh' vibe from the dynamic/aesthetic of the game.
And everyone and their mother I know irl are playing Overwatch so at least I can easily join a full team of friends.
