You can critique the anime as much as you want, but the manga looks great and cuts out the fluff and Toei nonsense. They tried to make a new character the focus, and look what happened. Even Goku himself didn't want to be relied on all the time, but nope, he saves the day once more. At this point, I've just accepted that we'll never not have Goku in the spotlight. I'll take a new story with familiar elements and such over the same retelling of the same story over and over again.

The moment Toriyama stopped drawing Dragon Ball is the moment it died. Is he senile? Sure. Does his current art style not mesh well with what was drawn in DB's prime? Yeah. But he was still the genuine Tori. Toyotaro can mimic Tori's style well enough, but he isn't the real deal, he cannot into good character design and I think he'd shit the bed if he tried to come up with something as good as pic related on his own. He's bargain bin Toriyama, his legacy will be that of mimicking a legend. He will never carve his own path.
