Stupid, dumb, reckless amounts of violence and seemingly just making shit up as you go along. It's entertaining in the sense that you just want to see what sort of crazy shit they come up with.
Watch a couple episodes of Dragon Ball and then watch a couple episodes of Dragon Ball Z and then judge for yourself which one you want to watch first.
