So Smash Wii U's mods are coming along quickly, being able to add new skins and music without replacing old ones like Brawl previously.
What have you people been downloading (or making) so far?

I'm more excited about custom music to be frank, gonna fix up the SF stage with 3rd Strike music, see if I can add some more FF music to Midgar, and replace some tracks I don't like on my favorite stages with some fitting source material tracks.

Importing custom skins is slightly more complicated and involves waiting hours to dump your Smash 4 game, unless you download an already completed patch for the skins somewhere. Here's one I got from /vg/ today. (It also has Fox's Melee voice)

Just skins for a lot of characters and Fox with his Melee voice. Most don't show up on the CSS though, so you're going to have to pick a character and an alt to know which ones are modified. For example, Luigi's regular costume is actually a Mr. L costume. Music is really easy to do on your own.

This image really makes it all the more confusing why Sakurai never bothers to give transformations like Giga Bowser or Giga Mac their own unique color schemes. It doesn't seem hard, Project M also gave Giga Bowser his own colors as well.
I think the worst offender in this regard is Giga Mac, particurly if you're using Little Mac's wireframe skinslike I do.It's just really jarring to transform from a mute wireframe apparition into a fully fleshy guy that can suddenly make audible growls/noises.

Physics are fine in Smash 4 and don't feel the need to immediately replace, unless if you really can't let go of the same old physics from 14 or 15 years ago. What it needs to be changed is the combo game and the balance.
That way, you can make an unique Smash game while fixing the competitive gameplay, instead just creating thousands of Melee clones, when you can just go back to Melee.

A lot of characters would actually have more consistent combos and kills if not for rage.
Melee/Brawl DI is better because the result is definitely not the same. Melee/Brawl DI allows for slight DI, which is something you can't do in Smash 4 since horizontal DI is still vectoring. You either DI in, out or don't DI at all compared to Melee or Brawl where you have a lot more control and that adds another layer to getting around combos. Melee/Brawl DI in general is also just a lot more effective.
The hitstun modifier is also the same in Brawl, Smash 4 and Melee. The problem is the fact that characters are floatier across the board and it's harder to combo floaties since they rise up in the air further than fast fallers. Also unlike Melee, you can airdodge out of tumble in Brawl/Smash 4. Infinite airdodges themselves aren't the problem, it's just that you can airdodge out of tumble. If you couldn't do that then combos would be a lot easier since they can't just straight up airdodge. Also Brawl's issue was that hitstun cancelling was a retarded mechanic. Smash 4 also having a lot of end lag across the board makes combos harder too.
It goes to show that engine differences have a lot more effect than people think.
