What are your honest opinions on this company?
That's a big cock
They've fallen far from grace since around 2013.
>>338547114
FOR
Capitalism destroyed them.
They were great as a fun little group of guys making video games jokes in engine.
They they realized they could be a major entertainment outlet and went to shit.
They make cringey garbage and are afraid of PC gaming
Met a bunch of them against my will. Abnoxious bronies.
Everybody that got hired after the original team of half a dozen or so is shit. Whole company got too self aware and big for their britches and went to shit.
>>338547035
Hardcore sold out with and went full retard by hiring Screwattack and Kinda Funny.
Jack is the worst thing on the planet, so is Miles, Kerry, Barb and Smeg Turney
I liked RvB until around 2012-ish. I dont watch anything else of theirs but as a side note, that not anime show they made RWBY or whatever it's called has the most autistic fans.
>>338547502
>>338547035
Also Matt Brag is the most autistic unfunniest fuck
We never got to see them battle it out.and now we never will
Which team would win?
I stopped watching around 2011/12 after Season 5 of RvB. They had just hired some guy named Jack.
I have no idea who all these random ass people are that are always getting discussed on /v/. Kerry? Miles? Barbara? Who the fuck are these people?
>>338547035
they somehow thought Monty Oum had talent
Roosters don't have teeth.
>>338547665
RWBY would win because it's essentially a 4 v 3.
I listen to their podcast when I go running.
Its funny when the Carl plinkton guy comes up with dumb shit and the rest of them gang up on him.
Otherwise they talk about their own company a ton which is just boring to me.
A bunch of unprofessional manchildren who have no idea how to actually run a business.

>>338547035
I just watch Funhaus, they were fun in the old IG days. FH feels more tame now but sometimes they get back to the old ways. The whole Vin Diesel skit in that GTA video was GOAT.
Don't give two fucks about the rest of RT.

>>338547783

>>338547035
They have an odd habit of making productions with a very amateur feel to them in spite of very clearly being professionals at this point.
The only good things were to come out of them were RVB and then it overstayed it welcome and AH, but it turned to shit once Ryan left.
Joel's cool though.
The first 2 seasons of RWBY are actually good, animation aside.
The third season is raw autism extract
>>338547035
The Know is one of the most disgustingly blatantly clickbait based news source I've ever seen and the podcast where they talked shit about negative reviews of Fallout 4 while wearing their preorder bonus pipboys infuriated me beyond belief.
>>338547983
They too have been selling out so much lately though, saying that all the care about is views and they dont want to do actual fun series because they dont get enough views.
They just act retarded and yell lately to get those 12 year old views.
They're even admitting to being just empty shells trying to get phrases they can reuse for minimal work/profit ratio
>>338547753
He did, but he was a one-trick pony and was far to uugu~ for the rest of the show.
Surprised Tex didn't get a sexy robo-kini.
I only watch Cow Chop. Unfamiliar with the rest of the brand so I can't pass judgement.
they went corporate, all their videos feel professional and not amateur which sucks. im not subscribed to them but i do watch their rooster teeth animated adventures which is the only thing i watch from them.
also posting best girl
>>338548339
If they hired him as a fight choreographer I MIGHT agree with you, unfortunately they hired him as an animator, and he was fucking garbage at that.
They sold out real fucking hard. Everything they've put out over the past, oh, three or four years, maybe more has been utterly soulless and devoid of any real creativity.
>>338547035
I'm amazed at how far they've come from being just "those guys who recorded Halo stuff and made it funny."
And now they're big shots who have how many different shows and shit in a company worth millions, its crazy to think about.
>>338548452
Great taste
Absolute shit. You have to be underage to enjoy it. The only tolerable thing was the podcast but that's been garbage since Geoff left.
>>338548313
Yeah this. They made it and instead to sticking to what makes them great (two guys making fun of an idiot playing crappy games) they tried to "innovate" and had "guests" who can't keep up with the racist jokes or crappy gimmicks like VR gaming and whatnot.
Even their podcasts got crappy with the studio feel to it. No more going off the rails because they got distracted with the gameplay. It's all couch and table serious now.
Should've stuck to their own thing instead of trying to be AH.2
>>338547035
Respected them highly back in the day, but the start of that fucking let's play channel was the beginning of the end for me. Once Ray left, I just stopped giving a shit.
>>338548474

He might not have been the final say, but he had pull and influence.

Inb4 le movie maymay xD great stuff /v/
They used to be alright, can't recall what made me stop watching. Just kind of got sick of it one day.
Right now I'm all about Easy Allies. Don't care how many people bitch about ecelebs on here or whatever. I love that channel to death, especially Kyle Bosman. Reminds me of late nineties shows about video games.
>>338547035

>>338547035
RedVsBlue was fun, dont know much else.
>>338548991
It's pretty ironic considering if they kept just doing what they did good they would eventually get way more views.
Once they established themselves they just decided to pander to the lowest common denominator to get as much money as possible even though they're owned by a big company.

I just can't take anyone seriously when it's blatantly evident that they are DEEP in a corporation's pocket. They are so far up Microsoft's ass that their opinions mean nothing.
I'm not trying to rag on them personally, but as a viewer, when they say things like 'Oh, Halo 5 is rad'. The constant verbal shitposting and Xbox wanking when they do anything on PlayStation/Wii games.
It's just hot air because Microsoft puts bread on their table. They can't say anything else.
It's especially apparent when they insist on playing the Xbox version of Minecraft, if not that they're playing that shit at all. Let alone for hundreds of episodes. Shit dude.

They sold out
>>338552197
Monty did have something that's for sure, Autism or ADD or whatever the dude was a workaholic with his work and any ideas and input he had for RWBY sounded god awful. I'm more convinced now that volume 1 and 2 were trash because of Monty's input with the show, only thing he was good at was fight cinematography and design choices. Monty wanted RWBY to be a Soul Eater knockoff while Miles and Kerry want to evolve it into it's own thing.
Shane can piss off, he can't seem to move on and wants the show to revolve around him believing his word is the final word since he was Monty's "best friend". He should be more concerned for applying to his local Burger King than rallying up whiny fans.
>>338553538
Wal mart or Burger King are the only things that will hire him now, he burnt the bridge to ashes with that letter, the stupid part is, RT wanted him back after he got his shit together. Fucking hell dude, RT is getting pretty huge now, if he had not burnt that bridge he could have gotten a job anywhere.
What he does not seem to realize is, whenever you write or make a story, down the line things will change, You could have an awesome idea, but as the story goes on you realize that idea wont fit anywhere and cut it, like the Raven/JNPR fight, but no, Shane gets all ass blasted over that.
I unsubscribed once ray left and they started bringing in a bunch of other people like funhaus
irrelevant
Oh and they apparently hired a chick just because she was a fan that had LeVar Burton as a father

My goal is 1000 subs. I think that would be cool, just for the sake of making things I find funny.
All these but conglomerates on YouTube are pretty intimidating to look at though. Especially since they can pump out hours of videos each day.
Should be fun as a hobby though. I'm pretty psyched because I managed to snag a pretty good name. We'll see.

>>338555479
RWBY and RvB both have like 5 minute episodes so despite how shitty they can be theres really no reason to not watch it if you're remotely interested.
Season 1 and 2 or RWBY were watchable because the one thing the show gets right is the characters. They're all very likable in different ways. I especially like how outside of the sisters, none of the girls really like each other that much at first and they grow together as a team.
Season 3 was bad because the plot takes center stage and these writers can't write for shit. Also, while Roman was somewhat tolerable, Cinder is cringey as fuck to listen to and her cronies have one emotion: being smug.
I don't expect season 4 to be a any better.
>>338557114
Only the first season of RWBY really has that, afterwards they're all like 10 minutes at the minimum.
>>338547665

>Bad Rooster Teeth
People who wanted a job getting drunk and watching people play video games
They hired their fanbase, the autistic shits who voluntarily moderated their forums and bought their merch. That might sound like a good idea, but it isn't.
You hire people actually good at their job, and when your job is entertainment, that means not hiring unfunny pieces of shit.
It's basically a little microcosm if people from /v/ ended up getting hired to develop the games they never played, just talked about.
Of course they don't care, they've already accomplished their dream - they got drunk and made money playing video games.

Brandon is an excellent example of them fucking up and hiring fans, along with Barbara (though I will admit she's tolerable half of the time on the podcast). Brandon has no redeeming characteristics, he literally just complains through whatever he's doing with zero attempt at humor.
Gavin is exactly the halfway point. Because he actually did shit before being part of Rooster Teeth, he isn't nearly as mired in shit despite being essentially one of its core members.
They started out alright when they were a small youtube channel and the didnt push "content" all the time. I stopped following them very soon after they surfaced since they just covered console games and their popularity caused their content to become total cancer. As with any "popular" youtube channel. Turns out the only youtube "gaming" channels I follow are the type with less than 10k subs, everything else just gets ruined by their popularity.

They lost me when they hired animators for Red vs. Blue and stopped just using the ingame engine while also making the story super serious. This is also around the same time that machinima became a big thing and not just a collection of vidya based skits that amateurs would do in their spare time.
What is the proper 'shill' etiquette for your own channels?
I never want to post it on /v/ because that's clearly an awful idea these days and I don't want to step on any toes.I don't do LPs. Just vidya animations, editorials w/ storyboards in the background and I'm writing up a script for a weekly animatic web show about video games.
Is there a place where you can blatantly, transparently shill where people won't get upset?
>>338567121
>They lost me when they hired animators for Red vs. Blue and stopped just using the ingame engine while also making the story super serious.
This.
The recollection was cool when I was like 17. Now it's just cancerous.
That being said, I do unironically enjoy RWBY, but I can admit season 3 was really cringey.
>>338566678
It's not a real season.
Just back stories.
>>338555261
started a channel a while ago and have had about 1 vid a day for about a month and a half (I know thats not very long), but I haven't been shilling or anything and no one watches it. And i mean no one. Every day it's zero views, if I didn't enjoy making videos I would have already stopped. It's not animations, it's a much shittier platform so I don't know if it's a good comparison. I'm like you and I don't like begging for views, but I may have to start soon otherwise I don't know how much longer I'll keep it up.
Kerry is the best thing to happen to RT.
I miss Ray.
I'm glad Matt didn't get Ray's open spot, but I don't like Jeremy much better. I wish these cunts wouldn't be such console plebs and do more PC stuff like Ryan wants.
RIP Monty
I heard that Griffon cucked Geoff with Burnie, and that's why you never see Geoff and Burnie in videos together. I don't want to believe it, but it's true that they don't work together anymore.
I want to sniff Barb's panties.
>>338568396
What kind of videos do you make?
No sense in feeling shame since you don't have to post a link or say your username.
No matter which video you're making, there are several things people usually monumentally fuck up.
The thumbnail, the title, and the channel name.
Also, general a/v quality. The first few minutes have to be immediately entertaining.
Video length is also a factor.
>>338568014
Just do it here but don't try and trick people, if you say hey look at this guy I found and you have like 11 subs people will call you out.
Met Barbara on the overnight bus from Montreal to Boston going to the first pax east. She was a nobody and RT weren't very big. We're still facebook friends.
I stopped watching them all together a few years ago.
Anyone remember Griffin and Luke's comics?
They were pretty generic looking back, but at the time I loved reading them. Shame to see them go.
I used to watch RvB and some of their other shows a lot. Always thought Achievement Hunter was garbage.
>>338568014

basic let's plays and one offs, also a podcast that we pretty much quit.
I'm actually part of a group, but I basically run it
I've been told the name is bad, but I am terrible with names and I kind of want to stick with it.
I put a decent amount of effort into the thumbnails so I don't think that's it.
A/V quality shouldn't be a problem either. We're not pro's but I've seen much worse, and I'm getting better.
We do what we can to be entertaining, but we are what we are.
There are probably a lot of things I'm doing wrong in a sense, but I don't think that most of them can be helped at the current time, and the others I'm working on. Mostly I just think that we have no visibility because no one watches to bring it up none of us try to spread the word.

I do like Kerry, but what makes him "the best thing"? Also, any details on Griffon supposedly cucking Geoff, because I've never heard anything like that. Also, define "anymore", because the RvB Chorus Trilogy that ended last summer has both Grif and Church, or Geoff and Burnie, in which they would probably have still work together some, I assume.

To be fair, Ian and Anthony did some voices back in S9 and I think 10, and Grumps had a few voices in S13. It will be more noticeable this time though since apparently they're writing one of the episodes for S14 I believe.
Easy Allies is the fucking best.
Their D&D episodes made me realize that it actually looks kind of fun. I always assumed it was lame like all TV shows and movies portray it. You know, fat neckbeards taking it way too seriously and the like. Looks like a lot of fucking fun. Watch each episode and they're like an hour a piece.
Also, Kyle Bosman is literally Jesus.
>>338566629
Who was your favorite character introduced during the Chorus Trilogy? Also I agree partly because it wasn't as serious as Recollections as a whole or S9-10.
>>338565726
Properly animate. Jesus christ this show looks awful. Some legitimately good character designs but everything else about it is just so fucking bad.
>>338570680
I'll get around to it tomorrow.
Thanks.
>>338570680
Well, you're only one fucking month old dude. These things take time.
Also, thing about YouTube is that growth is exponential.
All it takes is one lucky video to get a couple thousand views, then you get a couple hundred subscribers, your videos get more regular views because of that. Another, even more successful video happens, more subs etc
Just need to get that snowball rolling.

>>338566678
The fuck. I thought this ended like in 2006 when they blew up the whole map and it turned out they were in a multiplayer screen.
I stopped watching Lets Play when Funhaus started. Besides their minigolf and heists they've turned to shit. Funhaus has some decent shows, but their podcast is pretty bad. Elyse is funny and my GT-fu.
Can anyone actually watch RWBY? The voice acting is just terrible. Screwattack really sucks now, which is just sad.
>>338547035
All the new stuff is one long-ass cringefest.
The old stuff is still fun to watch though. My favorites are:
>The worms LPs
>All the minigolf stuff
>Boardgame plays are fun when they're not with the literally who's
>A very limited selection of the early Minecraft videos, this is terribly limited though
>A few specific Simulator videos
Absolutely everything else they do is utter cash-grabbing garbage.
I cannot fathom how this company still makes enough money to employ as many people as it does.
>>338571641
That was an alternate ending, one of 5, the real BGC ending was different.
>>338570680
Channel name is fine, the channel looks nicely put together, thumbnails aren't particularly interesting but I'd say at least it's good that it's immediately clear which series a video is part of. Audio is good, voice is decent. I suspect part of your issue is you're doing long plays, which I suspect it's harder to grab audiences with seeing as of course, they take so long to watch and most people probably won't finish them, leaving them without any sense of completion, and if you don't like the game the person is playing at the moment, it can be a long time before something pops up that you ARE interested in watching. If you did this like 5 years ago I bet you'd be doing better, but even now for what it's worth I think you have a pretty good chance if you stick it out long enough. For reference, I subscribe to a youtuber who at his best has gotten ~4 million views on videos, I've looked back at his videos and based on stuff I see there and when I came in, it seems to me it took him something like a year and a half to get successful, and I noticed a similar timespan in another guy he often collaborates with i don't actually know how common that is, but there you have it. One criticism I do have, when I clicked the link I immediately clicked on your channel link, and for a few minutes I thought youtube was broken because there's no tab right below the banner to click on to go to the uploads page, instead you only have it in the horizontal stream of recent videos. I can only guess that's a channel setting, I would definitely recommend adding the tab as an option.
>>338547035
Achievement Hunter's GTA videos were mostly good (although I really can't stand Michael sometimes)
That shit I saw about the fallout 4 review made me cringe, though.
>>338571705
>I cannot fathom how this company still makes enough money to employ as many people as it does.
From what I've seen their fans are mostly highschool and college-age people, not quite as many young kids as other gaming channels. I guess a lot of people just have shit taste.
They translate those fans into money through youtube advertising and product promotion.
Question, from someone who doesn't understand anything about anything: how does this company stay afloat?
Like, they must be a dozen people by now. How do they make enough money to pay everyone 30k a year?
>>338572036
Yeah, but you wouldn't think a company of 20 people (I'm just guessing at a number, so that could be completely wrong) manage to sustain itself like this? The more I think about it, the more I realize that there is probably some serious money to be made in advertisement.
>>338570680
You have to make the titles a little more eye grabbing. Not quite clickbait because "BOOBS IN MINECRAFT?!?!?!?!" and the like is just obnoxious.
Just need to make the title stand out. Reference something that happened in the video.
Themed shows also do well nowadays.
Find a niche.
>>338571505
You don't have to do a video a day.
Try to do at least 1 or 2 a week then when you get viewers you can increase
>>338570680
Try to make your commentary less awkward. People are just constantly talking over each other, half the jokes fall flat or are interrupted by other jokes, and one guy is consistently way louder than everyone else. Also having a fuckload of people doing a more informal commentary like that isn't very interesting in the first place if nobody knows who any of the people are.
>>338572203
They have a crew of about 75 people fuck me
>>338571839
I'll have to see what I can do about it.
and thanks for the commentary. it's nice to hear some opinions other than our own and a few friends I have, who all just say, "it's good."
And I suspected that most of our views wouldn't come from part xx of whatever play through, and like I said I have a few problems I'm working on and diversifying is one of them. It's hard though when we only have a few hours a week since, I'm not a fan of using skype to record since the audio quality is better in person and we have better chemistry. That being said though our dark souls is on skype and I don't think it's too bad. Just not something that's going to grab new viewers.
>>338572203
It's not advertisement, youtube ads aren't worth dick unless it's like one or two people getting all the money, the money is in the merchandise, that's why they advertise their website's store so much in videos.
>there are people that unironically watch RWBY
The animation is a barrel of laughs, to be fair.
>>338572431
Holy hell. And how many actual on-camera personalities are there? 5? 10?
What the fuck do the last 60 people do?
I mean, yeah, 10 people are probably editors that work the day by just cutting their goofy shit together, but that still leaves 50 people to fetch coffee.
It kinda' feels like whatDSPthrough he would be doing. He always talked about starting his own entertainment company, you know? It's almost insane that these people manage to churn out pretty good pay for 75 employees though.
>>338572615

That last bit goes for the podcast as well. It couldn't hurt to already be doing one to help build up those personalities for your audience, but it really needs to slow down. It looks like you guys did 7 episodes in the span of a month. Try doing it monthly instead.
>>338547035

apparently it works but they have bar none the most garbage selection of merchandise
>>338572038

>>338573053
I've personally seen quite a few of those pin-on buttons out in the wild.
I still think a lot of their money comes from product placements in the videos. I mean when you have as many viewers as RT, surely you have publishers approach you to do a playthrough and say good things about their game?
>>338573028

>>338573217
Yeah that must be it. I've never even been to their store (honestly, most shilling just flies straight over my head after decade in this hellhole).
But in fairness Gavin should pretty much be a patent of his own at this point. The man's a meme-factory, and they'll stick anything he says on a shirt if they even entertain the idea it'll catch on.
I can't tell if Gavin's personality's a little forced or not though.
>>338573218
Didn't even know they made a card-game. What a weird little novelty that must be to own.
>>338572615
>That being said though our dark souls is on skype and I don't think it's too bad.
The audio quality is good enough but the commentary still needs major work. I watched your most recent episode and you both tend to sound either bored or annoyed. Referencing ancient memes is a no go as well, and if a joke doesn't get a response, drop it and move on ("what's your opinion on Caramelldansen").
>>338573431
i don't know, it's been a really long time since i watched a sourcefed video with her in it. the only one i remember was her bringing up serial experiments lain in a moment that really didn't call for it, and when she was trying to explain the plot it felt like she really missed the point.
>>338572615
You should check out a channel called 'Easy Allies'.
Granted, they're in a more advantageous situation than you because they used to work at Gametrailers before it shut down, they're still very small comparable to other bigger channels. They grow slowly because they establish a community, stick to their guns and make interesting stuff though.
Sometimes it's not about getting millions of subscribers, but getting like 20k regular subs who are extremely loyal and will spread your stuff around without needing to be asked.
You need to make INTERESTING stuff, and im not trying to be a cunt by saying that.
Make editorial pieces about a subject you're very passionate about in video games.
Arrange your pals to meet up, play some old games that you consider 'hidden gems' or something.
Maybe you have a weird talent like fucking wood whittling, incorporate your strengths and make a fucking time lapse of you whittling a figurine of Dr Mario.
Make a video about your fucking favourite game of all time and pour your soul into it. Treat it like a goddamn uni essay.
You can't just coast and knock out some gameplay videos anymore man. It's a tough pill to swallow but its true.
Good luck, sincerely.

I've been passing this along to the rest of the crew too, thanks for the responses guys, really.
Got too big for their own good. RvB has been going on far too long, and their other stuff lost its luster years ago.
RWBY is nothing but a bunch of anime cliches and plot devices rolled into one package, not to mention animated with a software that isn't meant for such kinds of animation. Plus saving on voice talent by using the people around the office makes it sound all the more amateur (though they have been able to nail down Vic Mignona, Laura Bailey, and Jnigs for roles)
Monty was a hack who was only known for "girls fighting for no reason". Dude didn't deserve to die, but wasn't worthy of all the praise he gets.
To his credit, RWBY appears to be a big success. I never would guess this would work out, but i guess I was wrong. Maybe it's retarded waifufags, maybe it's people astonished westerners made their own "anime" but regardless it reels in the money. Hell this shit is on Netflix

I find it odd that people don't get this part. Not sure how many of you have ever heard of Gamesradar, but their staff used to have this awesome podcast called TalkRadar that was very popular. A lot of the time it wasn't exactly about video games, but the hosts were hilarious and it was a ton of fun. Then the show got cancelled and the staff left, and now host a website called Lasertime which is just as good. They have a Patreon, and it's the only one i support because i know these guys make good stuff and have been for years.
The whole "video/stream channel" thing is beyond competitive, and you can no longer get away with shitty reaction videos (which are cancer anyway) and copy and pasted formats. My ex girlfriend started a cosplay youtube channel, but make-up and costume guides are dime a dozen so she only made 6 videos before calling it quits.

What fresh hell is this?
Ashley has a really nicevoice
>>338576132
Yeah, but unless they have a Lazer Team 2 that doesn't mean much. Also, I haven't watched it, but wasn't Lazer Team more or less a bunch of inside RT jokes and some stuff with aliens and advanced weapons and whatnot? I can't imagine that's more appealing than most other movies to people who haven't watched RT before.
>>338576248
Lazer Team
It was mediocre at absolute best
>>338563987
They're numales and literally the big R incarnate

No, it had actually screenings, some organized by fans w/ Lindsay's help, although I feel like the only official screening was in Texas.

I literally cannot understand this. Everything else looks solid
>>338576323
Legit best girl. It pisses me off that she's always showing up with Meg, because apart from being obnoxious on her own, Meg seems to just infect the people around her to make them more obnoxious as well.
>>338576367
I'm not sure what either of those terms mean particularly, especially "numales".
How do you guys feel about X-Ray and Vav?
>>338576403
>>338576338
What was it about?
Why do these fucking youtube-personalities always fall into the trap of thinking they can act?
>>338576487
I put him up there because I felt like he's the guy who keeps conversations going in every Let's Play. He's always saying weird, but interesting shit and his fuck ups when playing video games are always entertaining.
Where would you put him?
I don't actually watch their podcasts or Let's Play shit. I just stuck to watching RvB and RWBY.
RvB actually managed to stay fine. Season 11 is probably the best the series has ever been, and the next two seasons, though not as good, were still excellently made. It's a shame that nobody has watched RvB past Season 5, because I have absolutely nobody to share these feelings with.
RWBY....oh my god. Even if you ignore the low-quality animation, it felt like they were just doing all the wrong things every other moment. Season 1 was a mess of throwing shit at a wall just because they could. Season 2 managed to actually set up some good elements from what Season 1 had left, but still kinda suffered from feeling like they didn't yet have a plan. And Season 3 just confirmed my beliefs when they just devolved into complete nonsense.
I really hate this collaboration shit AH is doing with Kinda not funny and the others
Are they losing so many subscribers that they have to bunch up like the European Union did?
>>338576087
Ryan is pretty underrated.
Michael freeing edgar and then Ryan putting him back without him knowing is one of the best RT moments ever.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7ABSsu-ACM
>>338571209
Not him, but I really don't think you can tie Seasons 11 to 13's success to its new characters.
>>338576327
>wasn't Lazer Team more or less a bunch of inside RT jokes
There is hardly any RT inside jokes, and none that are core to the movie. It's still only 6/10, but that's got nothing to do with memes or references.
>>338576602
It's pretty good. Season 2 is better than S1, although Mogar could have been done just a tiny bit better, maybe slightly more intelligence, although I know that was the point of his character.
>>338574416
Butterface, she is absolutely caked in makeup here
>>338566221
Torchwick is the only person in the entire cast that knows how to emote.
>>338576698
I like kinda funny, don't care for the other guys though
>>338576781
So it's basically just Kevin Smith past the point where it could've actually garnered praise?
>>338576637

>>338576604
>What was it about?
Google it you retard.
>Why do these fucking youtube-personalities always fall into the trap of thinking they can act?
Because they started the company by being voice actors for RvB, the "personality" stuff came far later.
>>338576757
Oh no, I'm not tying the success to the new characters, but you have to admit some of them, like Felix and Locus, definitely had a lot of interesting things about them that added to the overall thing.
If RWBY didn't become an overnight hit RT would have died a while ago.
>>338576816
He better not be dead
>>338576323
She's thicc too
>>338576874
Well if you watch enough of S11 it does get better. There's a nice "real civil war" element that gets set-up later on. S11 is a bit slower( but still very enjoyable, to me), but S12 and S13 definitely make up for it, I'd say.
>>338576862
different anon here, but lets just say that lazerteam was complete shit. imagine a generic seth rogan- esque rom-com or non romance comedy, and then make it even less funny
>>338576874
How? The plot was intentionally about how the cast was trying to bury their old hostilities and paradigms while trying to adapt to all that's happened and changed with them.
>>338547035
I like RvB and RWBY. I used to like Let's Play/Achievement Hunter but after Ray left they went to shit. Lindsay and Matt are unfunny, Fun Haus is awful, and Jack still won't shut up about politics. Gavin is almost never there. Everyone else just has this "let's just get this over with" attitude now. Surprisingly Jeremy is one of my favorites because he's the only one that seems like he wants to be there.
>>338576637
Season 11 over Season 12 and 13, and possibly every other season? Why? It was good, but I wouldn't say "better than every other season" good. Also, what'd you think of Recollections, S9-10, and the Chorus Trilogy, each as a whole?
Ray is such a fucking memelord that he got a shiba dog
>>338577168
I'll be honest I don't really remember why I got the feeling anymore, I haven't seen it since it came out and it left no real impression on me. I know it wasn't the plot, maybe the jokes? I don't know. I'll probably watch through 11, 12, and 13 at some point when I'm bored and see if I get that sensation again.
>>338577212
>RWBY is a success
>Japan loves it
>Almost no porn last i checked
Where do I file a formal complaint?
>>338576971
Torchwick died with Monty. We're never going to see a scene as good as him beating the shit out of Blake in RWBY ever again, and the direction of his reappearance in V3 was complete shit.
>>338577409

The last thing I knew of Rooster teeth was that they had a pod cast with three guys, some shitty comic with a guy called Geoff, and RvB.

>>338576956
Felix and Locus were good characters, yes. I actually liked them from the start due to a personal "Ogma and Navarre" mould I thought they were fitting with their personas and Felix's shield perk. The twist was the perfect way to expand on their characters and avoid having them end up like the fucking Freelancers, the Fed VS New seemed like an excellent parallel to the Reds and Blues' own conflict taken in a serious direction, and the fight scene in Episode 18 of Season 12 is probably the best animated fight scene in the series just for how well integrated it was with traditional machinima.
The only problem I have is how Felix's emotional breakdown in the end came out of nowhere. The arc had been doing some nice work with Locus's character, so it's a shame that Felix's mental insecurity about his own survival without Locus never got foreshadowed at all.
>>338577590
Well, even if you aren't interested in al of the newer RT stuff, RvB is still really good, Seasons 11-13, the Chorus Trilogy, was probably better than Recollections and S9-10(not combined though, probably), and S14 isn't too bad so far.

Recollections was...fine. The big elephant in the room is how this show just went from "A big bomb in Church blew up the present and sent everyone into the future" to "super soldier program fallout" out of nowhere with Recovery One, but otherwise it still managed to keep the tone from going crazy. Its biggest problem is how it completely failed to explain how Tex was in the Freelancer facility with all the terracotta Churches, and how it seems like it's using "Gary and O'Malley with their serious names torturing Church" as an excuse to retcon literally everything that happened in BGC.
Season 9 and 10 just felt like a bunch of action scenes strung together by more fucking retcon, and I literally can't remember any of it beyond the "Dr Church is Carolina's dad" ending.
What's with all these RT employees having Twitch channels with sub buttons and everything yet Ray wasn't allowed to?
Even Ryan does it now
Is the guy that voiced caboose still in rt?
He was the only tolerable rt member
>>338576087
I'm glad you put Gavin that high.
It all depends on how drunk and how aware he is.
Actual, piece of shit Gavin is great. He's aware of much of the cancer in his fans, because he was one, knows he did something worthwhile outside of the company, and is doing this for a lark, which informs his behavior. He fucks with other people because he knows all of them - his dynamic with Ryan (and formerly Ray) is/was perfect, because they are both sober unlike every other person he hangs out with, and he didn't idolize them. These are just other people he works with who he can have a good time with.
Silly stupid British Gavin is as bad as angry silly Jersey Michael.
What reinforces why Jack is the worst, is that he plays up that cancerous shit.
Everyone is at their best when they agree with Gavin, because he's not playing up the schtick.
I don't watch much under the RT umbrella, but I've been watching the AH guys for years now. Funhaus was a good pick up because those guys are like AH for a more adult audience, but I don't like the other companies that RT (or their parent company) have purchased. Screw Attack hasn't been relevant in a decade and the only guy I know from there is Stuttering Craig, and then the other companies are literal whos who are not funny in the slightest. And apparently getting bought by RT must be shitty considering half of Funhaus and Creatures? left recently after being purchased.
>>338578616
Okay, but why S11 over S12 or S13? Also, I don't remember any exact details, but I think the fan guide answers some of those plot-holes, even though that's still not completely excusable.
>>338578867
Outside of Jason (Tucker), he's the most distant RT member by far, which only reinforces how good he is.
I used to really love Burnie, but this entire story has fucked him over as a person and I think he became aware of that.
>>338578953
I have no idea about Funhaus, but yeah, about 4-5 guys from the Creatures left to make a group called Cow Chop(although it was created shortly before they left), although RT seems to also own Cow Chop.
>>338574416
Meg is such a massive lolimsuchanerdxD whore it disgusts me, but I also can't help to feel aroused.
>>338578556
The dank meme thumbnails is pretty recent. I think it was the Funhaus guys that inspired it, since they acknowledged that their thumbnails are concentrated cancer, but do it because Youtube says you get more views that way
I know the word gets thrown around a lot nowadays but when everyone tries to push the 'lore', or Ryan himself acts like he's crazy is makes me look away from the screen because I'm so embarrassed.
Guy's a complete puss with an unwarranted air of self importance
>>338579097
Spoole left Funhaus a few months ago and then a month later Joel left. The "core" is Bruce, Adam, and James so it wasn't affected that much, but I liked Joel. The only videos I've seen with the Creatures was one where they played Funhaus at CSGO, which was pretty entertaining. Then they recently did a game of nuDoom with both Funhaus and Creatures on the same team and you could tell that the number of Creatures had been pared down a fuckton from the CSGO vid. And that vid was almost unwatchable because there was some fat unfunny memelord from Kinda Funny shitting up the video.
>>338548308
That Fallout 4 thing was cringy as all hell. And The Know's clickbait is cancer, I thought better of RT but I realized that, really, the only thing I consumed that was theirs was the podcast and I ignored mostly all else. But I quit listening to it, after too many fucking hoooorrible people being there. Like, that muscley faggot, what's his name? The one that keeps talking about anal retentiveness and how fucking hairy his faggot ass is.
God so many bad guests. Burnie, Gus, Gavin and Barbara work the best imho.
>>338579492
It's the persona that the fans have given him and like all e-celebs, he knows he has to give in and perpetuate the persona to keep them happy. That's why Gavin constantly acts like he's mentally retarded, Michael pretends to get angry, Lawrence pretends to be an alcoholic, Jeremy keeps running the "I'm short" joke into the ground, ect. Ryan is the best Hunter and I don't get any indication that he thinks he's important.
>>338579719
What you don't want to hear brandon whine and get defensive?
or literallywhos talk about nothing?
>>338578974
The point is that they had to go about retconning any of that at all. You can't just rewrite five entire seasons because you're stupidly trying to make an action drama out of what was firmly established as a wacky sitcom that never took itself seriously and ended on the moral of "Hate the people you know".
Anyways, I just thought the character drama and reverting to old paradigms was incredibly well done. Season 12 felt lacking because it never did anything with the background characters it spent its first 6 or 7 episodes developing, ignored developing the Feds as part of a twist that the fight for Chorus is just as arbitrary and manufactured as the old fights for Blood Gulch, then ended the season by tarnishing the "Dear Chairman" tagline of Reconstruction.
Season 13 I'm tempted to say is better than 11, and it probably is, but I guess there's just some part of my brain that likes Wash and Tucker struggling with their demons in between Caboose and Freckles' rampage just a bit more than the full-scale war, factional infighting, and Sharkface's salvaging of Season 9.

This, you have to pander to your audience as sad as it is. Ryan might be the one random exception to this now where he can stop and it wouldn't bother anybody since he's the most beloved member of AH by far. Ray was the other one and people still loved him despite how increasingly annoyed with the company and depressed he was getting which was clear as fucking day.
You can tell on any of their personal channels just how different they are. Michael himself has chilled out drastically over the years and James is completely different outside of his love for Psychonauts.
>>338583093
>you have to pander to your audience as sad as it is
Fuck that shit. If there's anything Jesse Wood's taught me, it's that pandering and appealing to your audience is equivalent to selling your soul, and it is never worth it when somebody is still going to hate you no matter how hard you appeal.
If RWBY went more into the direction of Black Rock Shooter where things get insane then it'd be much better.
My favorite part was the fashion girl whipping out a fuckhuge Gatling Gun and tearing monsters with it.
Instead you get more modest weapons but Super Saiyan characters - which is ultimately much more boring.

Funhaus is still hilarious, although when they bomb they bomb hard. Other than them all recent additions to RT have been the most generic group of people I've seen.
The one thing that gets me mad is how when they get sponsors for a game they'll say its so fun and great and all. A year later they'll say it was a piece of shit but the new one in the series that they are sponsoring fixes everything and is great and all. Every fucking time.
